Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention/holding pen
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This page is for listing usernames that are promotional, confusing or excessively long and warnings have been issued to the user asking them to change their username. If the user listed has changed their username, please remove it from the list, if they had continued editing and ignored the concerns, an administrator may block the account after an appropriate length of time. If there are no further edits then the username may be removed after 7 days with no further action taken, without prejudice to a future relisting. To list a user here, please firstly warn them that their username is inappropriate, clearly explaining why and how to change it. Then place {{Userlinks|USERNAME}} reason the username is inappropriate. ~~~~ under the appropriate date. Administrators may remove any listing which is not against the username policy at any time.

Discussing with user. I know, I know this really should be blocked but there haven't been any edits yet. Maybe they will be willing to change it or open another account. Daniel Case (talk) 02:05, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

- The string bot ?[0-9]*$ has a comment associated with it: Account names ending with "bot" which are not authorized bot accounts should be blocked unless the "bot" suffix arises naturally HBC NameWatcherBot (talk) 11:36, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Discussing with user. Not blocking right away because this is clearly not a bot account, and editing constructively. It uses bot as a prefix, not a suffix. Daniel Case (talk) 15:01, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

- MichaelQSchmidt (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · hardblock · softblock · spamblock) - matches name of real life actor Michael Q. Schmidt, also very similar to blocked sockpuppet Mqschmidt. Cumulus Clouds (talk) 21:26, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
-
- Not sure this is a username policy issue. There appears to be a long-running controversy regarding WP:BLP issues and the user's biography and photograph as an article subject. While the username policy could require him to verify his identity via OTRS, I dont think there's any reasonable doubt that he is the real-life actor who is the article subject. Do you disagree, Cumulus Clouds? You have engaged with him on this subject starting in January, so perhaps you might have a better perspective than those of us just seeing this for the first time here on the UAA page. --MCB (talk) 21:50, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
-
- Well, his entire edit history is concentrated within articles concerning Michael Q. Schmidt so this may also be a spam issue. Further to that point, there are concerns that this user is a sockpuppet of User:L.L.King, who has substantially similar edit patterns and was linked by checkuser to the account User:MikeTheModel. Since User:MichaelQSchmidt claimed he uploaded the picture on Michael Q. Schmidt, but which was in fact originally uploaded by User:Mqschmidt it seems to be a likely sockpuppet case to me as well. A lot of this is outside of the scope of UAA, but there seems to be significant enough evidence that this user is not the actor he claims to be, but does appear to be a purely promotional role account. - Knanaya Family (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · hardblock · softblock · spamblock) promo: http://vinodk.page.tl and http://groups.google.com/group/knanayafamily. Ultra! 09:04, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Not totally sure about this one, since they created what might be a legitimate article on their userpage that was moved to article namespace by another admin. Wait on it. Daniel Case (talk) 14:43, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

- Djg.com (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · hardblock · softblock · spamblock)
-
- Matches the regular expression called Top level domain. The portion that matched was .com.
-
- When using the name Djg.com(link) as a http URL I got a response code of 500.A response code starting in 5 means HTTP server not found.
- The string called Top level domain has a comment associated with it: Please check whether this name is promoting a Web site. Names may coincidentally resemble URLs or point to parked domains so take care. HBC NameWatcherBot (talk) 01:17, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
