The U.S. House election, 1828 was an election for the United States House of Representatives in 1828.
In 1828, Democrats soundly took control of the presidency, with Andrew Jackson's victory, and greatly increased their majority in Congress. Outgoing President John Quincy Adams' unpopularity played a major role in the Democratic pick-up. The Anti-Masonic Party, a single issue faction based on distrust of Freemasonry, became the first third party in American history to garner a seat in the House.
