[edit] Rules

[edit] Offense

Ultimate football can be played on any general athletic surface. Generally, end zones are assigned at each lateral side of the playing surface. A game begins with a team in possession trying to advance a football forward to the opposing goal. Once a player obtains possession of the ball, he or she must pass or lateral the ball to another player within five seconds of obtaining possession without taking any steps. If the player holding the ball moves one or both feet, or lifts his pivot foot, he is charged for walking and the other team is given the ball. If the ball touches the ground at all or is intercepted by the defense, the ball goes to the opposing team and they begin to advance the ball in the opposite direction. Also, there can only be one defender guarding an offensive player that has the ball.

[edit] Scoring

Points are awarded when an offensive player catches the pass of another offensive player in the endzone area. Games generally are played until a predetermined number of points are scored by one team, or by timed periods.

[edit] Defense

The job of the defense is to guard their goal from the opposition by intercepting or deflecting passes. The defense cannot touch the player with possession of the ball at any time. If this happens, the offense is awarded a reset of players and the player who was fouled is given the ball to replay.

This game was invented at Lowcountry Day School in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.[citation needed]
