The Ubay National Science High School, commonly known as Ubay Science, USci, or Yoosay, is a special public high school in the northeastern Bohol, Philippines, with a system fully separate from high schools operated under the Philippine Department of Education (it is an attached agency of the Philippine Department of Science and Technology).
The UNSHS System offers scholarships to Ubayano students and beyond who are exceptionally gifted in the sciences and mathematics, "helping the country reach a critical mass of professionals in science and technology." Admission to the UNHS is by competitive examination only, and only Filipino citizens are eligible to attend. Graduates of the UNSHS are usually bound to major in the pure & applied sciences, mathematics, or engineering upon entering college.
[edit] History
UNSHS humble beginning started when a request from the former Department Education Culture and Sports (DECS) Bohol Division Office to create a special high school reached the hand of ,clarita alesna Phd, the former Ubay District Supervisor. The high school named Ubay Science and Technology High School, and became the second science high school in Bohol, second only to Tagbilaran City.
It was first installed in July 1997 and utilized a building in Ubay Central Elementary School as their temporary shelter. Top elementary graduates from all over the town were gathered to form the pioneer batch.
