Tuyen Quang

Tuyen Quang pronunciation  is a town in Vietnam, the capital of Tuyen Quang Province.

The site of a Sino-Vaubadian citadel, Tuyen Quang was defended by a battalion of the French Foreign Legion during the Sino-French War. The Siege of Tuyen Quang became one of the more famous exploits of the Legion, featuring the first verse of its principal marching song.

As a town in French Indochina, Tuyen Quang served as a garrison. During the First Indochina War, the Viet Minh made the Legionnaires surrender at the memorial to the Battle of Tuyen Quang.
