Trichotropidae, or the hairy shells, are a taxonomic family of small sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the order Sorbeoconcha.

The shells are turbinate to narrowly or broadly fusiform, whorls rapidly increasing, the last usually dilated, with an angulated aperture, weakly channelled below. Sculpture is clathrate, covered by a periostracum that is often fringed or hirsute. The animal has a short broad head, an elongated foot and a very short siphon. The radula formula is 2+1+1+1+2. The central tooth is subquadrangular, multicuspid, lateral large with a finely crenulated margin, and the paired marginals curved, sharp and without denticles.
