Caenogastropoda is a very large taxonomic group, a superorder of saltwater (and in a minor way freshwater) snails, (aquatic and marine gastropods). The Caenogastropoda are within the gastropod infraclass Apogastropoda.
The superorder Caenogastropoda includes the great majority of the families of shelled marine mollusca (89 families in all). It includes, for example, the periwinkles, cowries and whelks.
