[edit] Hidden emoticon listing

hey i think that list of hidden emoticons should be on a seperate page because it really takes up a lot of space on this page and it is not exactly relevant to the rest of the article as its more of a specific subtopic

[edit] Skype plug-in

Can anyone point me to a site/forum thread that actually has a download of a working Skype plugin? I have been searching the various forums on the official website and other sites, but only found some rather crude plugins, which usually required the user to run Skype parallel to Trillian. Would be a great help, thanks! --capnez 21:21, 31 May 2005 (UTC)

  • -SkyLian can be downloaded here - Note: You must have Skype installed and this plugin can only be used by Pro and it doesn't not work on Windows 98. The plugin does not replace Skype - this is due to Skype's API JPat

[edit] Icons

Gah! I'll upload the other orb icons for Trillian later, unless someone else wants to do it.

-Anony

I uploaded the others....but Skype?? :-?
Noneloud 05:02, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

It appears to me like Skype is clear, but only in the main window of Trillian, but in the Prefrences, it is pink. I would get the icons soon, because the article looks odd. WestJet Continued from eariler: Skype plugs into Trillan, with SkyLlian, but the orb was invisible for me.

Best not to use loads of copyright images like this. I've changed it to just one, with colour blocks showing the different types. ed g2stalk 10:09, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
I found the icons to get the idea across much more clearly, though. CameoAppearance 06:40, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. The icons were much easier to understand. seifip 11:38, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article Readability/NPOV

This article - especially the feature and compatability sections sounds like it was ripped from the trillian marketing team. It doesn't sound very NPOV at all. Can someone clean this up? (Yes, I know, I would, but I don't have the time and am just passing through anyway). 137.104.74.34 04:10, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

I disagree. The article contains a lot of factual information that is otherwise not included in their official web site but rather collected from reviews, blogs and sites about Trillian. And it does not stress any features as particularly good or bad. It also points out weaknesses in certain features, so I think the point of view is quite neutral, although the links to the feature tour in the official site seem unnecessary to me. --24.151.46.223 20:55, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Google Integration

I have read on Google that Trillian can tap into Google Talk as well. I don't use Trillan so I don't know how it works, but it probably should be added to the supported messengers section. --DanielBC 10:55, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

I believe Trillian goes through the Jabber protocol to communicate with Google Talk. The feature is only for Trillian Pro. –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 04:57, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
Indeed, google talk is just a (slightly unusual) implementation of jabber, any jabber client that supports the nessacery encryption features can be used with it, that includes trillian pro but not trillian basic. Plugwash 19:56, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Google Talk has it's own plugin so far in the Astra alpha test version.

[edit] i remember there being

a nontrivial period where trillian pro could connect to msn but oridinary trillian could not, anyone have any more details on this and how to work it into the article? Plugwash 14:32, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Ive always had Trillian basic and don't remember this.

[edit] Viewpoint media player downloaded with Trillain?

  • After recently downloading Trillian, I found View point media player (malware) in my control panel. I uninstalled trillain and viewpoint immediately and switched over to Gaim. No problems. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BiologicalMisanthrope (talkcontribs) 04:56 27 July 2006 (UTC).
    • Strange. Never had that problem... Was it downloaded from www.ceruleanstudios.com or elsewhere? seifip 11:31, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
      • Do you have any AOL software of any sort installed? 99% chance that's where Viewpoint came from. E. Sn0 =31337= 07:13, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Gaim

Gaim is not in all capital letters. --24.171.73.130 00:30, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Can we have more people that are actually contributing more content, instead of coming in and editing that capitalization error, grammatical error, or spacing, or deleting things for NPOV and so on? --68.191.43.228 16:47, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes indeed. The way you have more people contributing content is to contribute more content. -66.30.205.65 00:26, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Security

I have heard that Trillian is safer than other messaging clients, does anyone know if this is true or false? Pogo 20:13, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

They do offer encryption over AIM in "SecureIM" —Disavian (talk/contribs) 20:57, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

No I am sorry to say this is very NOT true. In fact Trillian stores your passwords in plain text. And it is very easy to find. I discovered it the same day I installed the product and was shocked. I started researching the issue and discovered Cerulean studios was notified of this in 2005 and simply not corrected. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.25.148.87 (talk) 02:28, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Trillian Astra

Could someone please update the image of the Trillian Astra user interface? The image currently shown is basically the Trillian 3.x interface with an "Astra" label. It should be possible to get a usable image from the preview website. I have removed the image for now. (Vuzman 04:08, 26 November 2006 (UTC))

[edit] IRC color

The text states that IRC is represented by the color white. However the color shown    appears to be in the violet range, i.e.

Grant65 | Talk 04:30, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

If they put white you wouldnt be able to see it against the background. It was a good idea to add a little shade to it, i.e.

[edit] New Astra Updates

New updates on Astra, open for alpha testers sign up, plus astra webpage has been given a redesign, touting all the new features and improvements. Astra's section needs to be updated Misterdan | Talk Nov. 27, 2006

On a related note, i am taking out the release notes for trillain astra. There is no reason to have 20 alpha build releases. Maybe the latest one, but not previous ones.Buffalodan 19:29, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Buffalodan

[edit] Plugins in General

There needs to be a source to show all these plugins. I took off the Xfire one as I could not find one for Xfire, but for the others on the Plugin site, there is one. --TrevelyanL85A2 23:18, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

The plugin for Xfire is on the Xfire page. --heftig 15:04, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Care to provide a direct link? I didn't find it in the Xfire page. Removing the Xfire reference on the article page until it can be found.--TrevelyanL85A2 07:09, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] About Instant Lookup

Does anyone know where the Instant Lookup feature gets its information from Wikipedia? As the article says, the articles are short and condensed. Is it possible to get in there and change what is displayed for Instant Lookup? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by AlexG2490 (talkcontribs) 04:54, 23 January 2007 (UTC).

I'm wondering the same thing. Do all instant lookup blurbs reference back to versions on a specific date? How often is it updated? The freddinator (talk) 01:16, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] what the hell

does an instant messager client have to do with visual arts?! Plugwash 14:46, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Great question. I still can't figure out what category trajectory led the bot here. What's even curiouser to me is that an editor came along and assessed the article. Anyway, banner has been removed. Planetneutral 03:34, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] GA

  • change Windows to Microsoft windows in the lead
  • The second paragraph in the lead has new information every sentence and has no flow, its choppy
  • Images are missing fair use rationales
  • One sentence paragraphs violates criteria 1. It is well written - these need to bemerged expanded or removed
  • found here or here. External jumps here and throughout the article need to be converted into references
  • a few citation needed tags
  • A trivia section is unecyploedic and needs to be merged with the body or removed
  • references are missing last access dates
  • Remove blogs, forums from under external links, WP:EL

The main problem is the article contains way too many one sentence paragraphs and too many short stubby sections, try merging some to give the article a better format. M3tal H3ad 02:27, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

I like how Wikipedia has approached its elderly already, when the bots and word police just roam everywhere to cut articles shorter, and nobody contributes and actually writes anything. --24.151.109.228 13:43, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] History

Does anyone know if the Chatlogs in Astra are Stored on a Cerulean Studios Server ? Would be some real new invention for a Messenger. 87.167.30.212

[edit] Colored Spheres System

In Astra, the colors of the spheres have changed slightly, most notably in AIM. It went from yellow to an orangeous color, with almost an embossed look to it.

[edit] Known bugs and the history of the IRC plugin

As a long time user of trillian, there's a few things, that I'd like to see noticed int he article:

- the icq-plugin has a bug, that crashes trillian whenever icq-peer-to-peer connections are attempted. Quite annoying.

- the IRC-plugin is feature-wise a step back from the pro 1.0 irc client, the channel manager for example is missing. Also the client does not cleanly support irc user modes like admin, owner and half-op. In general the irc plugin is a very weak point of trillian, and this should be noted. Also, sometimes user "ghosts" aren't removed from the contact list, even when it's the user himself that timed out of a channel. Reclaiming ones nick can result in a crash, at least in the display of one "dead" nick

- video on pro works every now and then - where and how should maybe find its place in a feature list. file transfers are pretty hit and miss too, especially with the icq plugin.

Since that kind of information is pretty hard to find, unless you know here to look, I think the wikipedia article should mention it. A more verbose feature list might also be helpful.

-Rick 130.75.184.52 16:45, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

If all the bugs are listed in Wikipedia, I think all articles for Windows, iTunes, Photoshop or World of Warcraft will be filled with list of bugs. Only culturally significant bugs, like BSOD, should be included. So far there arent any culturally significant bugs in Trillian, except those security holes, which are well mentioned in the article already. --24.215.157.126 (talk) 23:38, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Trillian Cordillera.png

Image:Trillian Cordillera.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
