[edit] Goofs
- In the film when Jim returns to the fort, abandoned by his friends, he tells the pirates that he "killed Israel Hands". Despite that fact, in the end of the film we can see the Hispaniola leaving the island, with Israel Hands still hanging alive between her masts, holding the end of the ropes with both hands. It was cut in two by his own dagger during his battle with Jim.
- Same way, Captain Smollett constated before the fort battle - "There are seven of us against eighteen", but nearly all of the time there are just four of them (later Ben Gunn joined them).
- Dr. Livesey bears a bit of cheese on a meeting with Ben Gunn and previously Jim promised him "Such a head of cheese", nevertheless Ben Gunn asks nothing about that.
- Before the defence of the fort Trelawney stands near the real window and during the battle it mistically turns into a picture. Squire unsuccessfully tries to break it by the butt of his musket.
- Long John Silver misses his left leg throughout the film. However, at the end of the first part, when the pirates secretely meet and Silver takes his place on a barrel, he misses his right leg.
This goofs could be explained by that the characters speaks exactly as in the book but contrasts with the videoline of the film.
