Did the Irish treaty ports remain part of the United Kingdom between 1922-38 or were they Irish Free State territory with operational control retained by the British? JAJ 00:55, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Extent of the ports
Did the area under British control consist of the whole of the cities/towns, or just the port facilities? --Jfruh (talk) 22:38, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm fairly sure that it was just the port facilities under British control, seizing control of an Irish town would have provoked hostility. Taoiseach :)
- Just limited to "such harbour and other facilities" in times of peace - with no mention of towns and cities, only the three mentioned ports within the Irish Free State in the Annex of the Anglo-Irish Treaty. Djegan 16:06, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
