[edit] Major label interest

Transgressive recently signed a consultancy deal with Warner Music, wherein they find two acts every two years for Warners (or one of their subsidiaries) to sign; Battle and Larrikin Love being the first bands to fall under this new deal. An article in The Times revealed:

“Most of the other offers haven’t been difficult to pass up,” continues Tim, before recalling an episode in which a major label offered them £30,000 each to put out the debut single by the label’s latest signing, thereby securing a measure of indie authenticity for the group. Tim’s voice lowers and he slips into the hapless A&R man’s character: “This is my problem, right? I can take this band from B to C. Easy. But what I can’t do is take them from A to B. And that's where you come in. You help me take them from A to B and I’ll take you from C to . . .”

Both chorus: “Beyond your wildest dreams!”

Tim reels off a list of other heavily promoted bands on whose behalf Transgressive has been approached. “The fingerprints of major labels are all over MySpace at the moment, putting their new acts on there and trying to create a buzz.”
