Noisettes (occasionally written as NOISEttes) are an indie rock band from London comprising singer and bassist Shingai Shoniwa, guitarist Dan Smith, and drummer Jamie Morrison.

The band formed in 2003 when guitarist Smith and singer Shoniwa of the band Sonarfly began playing and writing together more often. The two met drummer Morrison (formerly of Living With Eating Disorders, Willis, Six Toes, Jaywalk Buzz and others) in December 2003 and played a number of gigs across London over the winter.

They recorded their debut EP Three Moods of the Noisettes during this time, which was released in April 2005 on London indie label Side Salad Records. This led to signing internationally with Universal Music Group, who released the EP in the US on the Low Altitude imprint. Their next single, "Iwe" was released via the Transgressive label, followed by "Scratch Your Name" on Mercury/Side Salad Records; since then all releases have been on the Vertigo Records label.

Noisettes have toured Europe and the United States extensively, with the likes of TV on the Radio, Tom Vek, Babyshambles, Bloc Party and the Mystery Jets. They supported Muse on a UK and European arena tour in November and December 2006, and toured the UK to promote the release of their debut album What's the Time Mr. Wolf? in February 2007. Noisettes also appeared at the Coachella festival on April 27th, 2007 and are going to be at the Reading and Leeds Festivals on the NME/Radio 1 Stage in August. Noisettes also made their US television debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on April 2, 2007. Shingai Shoniwa has provided backing vocals for many bands including Guillemots songs "Made Up Love Song #43" and "Over the Stairs". Noisettes song, "Scratch Your Name" was featured on the finale episode of The Sopranos in 2007. As well, another Noisettes song was in a Bionic Women episode.

Noisettes were set to tour their first North American headlining tour but had to cancel due to over-touring, much to the great disappointment of their fans.[1] This message was posted on the bands MySpace:

US Tour Cancelled The band has been touring non-stop for the last 2 years, the upcoming tour has forced the band to reconsider the effect another 8 week tour will have on them. They will be taking the next few months to rest up. Noisettes will be back in the US with a rescheduled tour, early in the new year. Please stay tuned for more info and updates; many apologies to disappoint...[2]

They still performed at the Detour Music Festival on October 6th, 2007, which included a new track titled 'Motion in the Ocean'. Noisettes have been working on their new album which is slated to be released early of 2008, it is said to 'shock'. Guitarist Dan Smith, says: "Currently, we're truly a band now. We are writing songs for our next album and we are quite far down the line. Anyone who had us written off as a garage rock buzz band on our first album - I hope those people will be shocked when they hear our new album."[3]

Noisettes along with Paul Weller, Graham Coxon, The Smiths's Andy Rourke, and members of New Young Pony Club and Supergrass performed an exclusive rendition of a specially created track, alongside their own material, to raise money for the homelessness charity Crisis Consequences. The event was hosted at Camden's Roundhouse on March 2nd, 2008, and organized by Pearl Lowe.[4]

Noisettes also performed at the SXSW showcasing three of their new songs from their new album (which is said to be released sometime this year. The were part of the NME/Transgressive party at the Wave venue on March 13th, 2008. The set including their hit songs 'Scratch Your Name' and 'Sister Rosetta', with three new songs: 'Beat Of My Heart', 'E-Way', and 'Atticus'.[5]

Noisettes performed at two day music festival Camden Crawl on Friday April 18th, 2008.[6]
