Tournament Players Club (TPC) is a chain of American public and private golf clubs operated by the PGA Tour. Most of the courses either are or had been hosts for PGA Tour events, and even those that have never hosted an event on the main tour have frequently hosted events on the second-tier Nationwide Tour or the over-50s Champions Tour. TPC courses are designed to accommodate large crowds (something that some celebrated courses can't do, for example Pine Valley, which is regularly rated as the greatest course in the United States). Another incentive for the development of the chain is that holding tournaments on its own courses enables the PGA Tour to avoid sharing the proceeds of its tournaments with external course owners.
