A toplist is a collection of website hyperlinks. You can register your own website hyperlink and try to get a high ranking within that topsite. As you achieve a high toplist rank you benefit from a better ranking in web search engines and are able to direct more visitors to your own website.

As you visit a toplist website you see toplist member websites in a charted and ranked format. The highest rank is "1" and the further you look down the towplist charts - The lower the number gets. The high ranked website members which are shown on the top of the toplist page have a higher chance to gain visitors via mouseclick.

Toplists are in most cases database driven. Most common is the use of a PHP database. Depending on the toplist hosting environment, visitor visits, registered members and some other factors they can be very server resource straining.

The owner and hoster of a toplists benefits from the "search engine" value of his registered members. He benefits from search engine values if registered members refer via hyperlink to the toplist.
The toplist hyperlink referer is handed over to the registered member as a piece of HTML code. This happens during or after the member registration.

The registered toplist member benefits from the toplist domain search engine value. Also the client, the registered member within the toplist, gains additional visitors to his website which come from the toplist.
