[edit] Reorganised entry for clarity

  • Removed links: one dead, one containing less infomation than the entry.
  • Removed refence to Topeth as a gate of the valley because I couldn't find any verification or mention of this anywhere - but if there is any it should be added back in.
  • Removed material relating to Moloch because not specifically relevant to the entry. Will cross check Moloch entry and see if it needs to be added.
  • Added information about possible derivations
  • Copy edited

[edit] Use of the word Canaanites

Not sure if this is appropriate or accurate terminology

[edit] holokautoma aka ὁλόκαυστον aka holókauston includes the term tofet

Why isn't it mentioned? Pitohui 09:56, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed merger of Tophet and Topheth

Both of these articles cover the same subject, with the exception that Tophet has more discussion of more pop-culture stuff and Topheth has more discussion of the term itself. We don't need both of them. Since "Tophet" is the more common term in English (though "Topheth" is the more scrupulously correct one), I propose to merge the useful contents of both to Tophet. I don't expect this to be a controversial move, but I'd like to hear from anyone who thinks otherwise. In the absence of objections, however, I'm likely to perform a merge fairly soon. Merge - Looks pretty clear-cut to me. --Steven J. Anderson (talk) 00:00, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Absent any objections, I've gone ahead and done it. Note that the article could still use serious cleanup. Gavia immer (talk) 14:45, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
