[edit] Update the games
Someone update the 'latest game' blurb, it relates back to 2007, whereas he's produced two games since then and Tony Hawk's 10 is coming soon. Zeabrid (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 03:02, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] No criticism section: Fear?
None of the criticism of the skateboarders are mentioned. Are you too scared to mention it because he's living?
[edit] medal typo?
did tony hawk really take both bronze and silver in the 1996 mens singles skateboarding event? I have a hard time believing this, but I don't know enough about the x-games to edit myself. -shoez 01:26, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Less Videogames
Tony Hawk is a profational skate boarder, the best ever. His page should be more focused on him and less focused on his video games. They are more of a side project. --Ncusa367 00:07, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] you know
you know you should know more iformation than what is on this page!Ý
you know that this article needs more stuff on his kids.
[edit] Additional details useful?
Should there be an expanded description of some of his other efforts as a artist? Maybe a link to his Huckjam tour?
Tony Hawk appeared on Spike TV's MXC Almost Live Special (Geeks vs. Greeks) as the captain of the 'Geek' team if anyone feels that's worth mentioning under the Television and Film section. --Bozistheboss 22:26, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Airwalk shoes
(edit: Tony was actually just a team rider with Airwalk and did not have his own model shoe) (re-edit: Tony Hawk did have a model shoe for airwalk; dark-blue, suede, gum-rubber sole shoe with his signature in its tongue. Although, the shoe was rarely seen because it was released right before he formed Adio with Chris Miller)
- Hawk did indeed have a pro model shoe with Airwalk, but he only skates for Adio as a sponsored rider, he does not have a financial stake in the company. He got on Adio after it was already esablished.Dubkiller
go everett meridith middle school , yeah
[edit] User:Lhotsem
It appears we have Tony's wife herself editing this page? Or just an impersonator. --Liface 18:29, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] BMX in Tony Hawk games
I removed that there is BMXing in the TH games, there's a lot of non-skating aspects in some of them (driving, wheelchairs, running, etc)it, and I don't think it's necessary to list them, especially on this particular page.--Dubkiller 23:55, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] problems
This article could do with more description of his actual skating than of his trophies and commercial endeavors. Yandman 14:46, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Weasel words
Anthony Frank "Tony" Hawk (born May 12, 1968 in Carlsbad, California) is one of, if not the most, recognizable skateboarders of all time.
Even if that is true, it is a perfect example of peacock terms and weasel words. I suggest adding references to quote that, or just rewrite the article. -- ReyBrujo 00:34, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- This language no longer seems to be there. -Stellmach 18:04, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Most famous for the 900?
I'm not entirely opposed to this claim...just throwing a thought I had as I was reading through looking for vandalism.
Is the 900 really what he's most famous for? I've never been a big follower of the sport, but I'd say he'd pretty much established himself as the 'Michael Jordan of skateboarding' long before that trick was performed. Didn't he come out of a pseudo-retirement to attempt it?
Hmm...just thinking as I type now. I guess if someone asked me what trick he performed before anyone else...the only answer I'd know was right would be the 900. (although I'm sure he was a pioneer on many other maneuvers.)
I'm now happy with the way it's written, but I'll leave my comment anyway to see if others have different opinions. --Onorem 13:45, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Deleted MySpace page
I deleted the MySpace page since it no long exists. http://www.myspace.com/anthonyhawk Seloth 22:37, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
By the way, I believe that this is the correct myspace link - I'm not adding it, though, because I'm not 100% sure... www.myspace.com/birdman900 Aoibheannniamh 02:32, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New pic?
I think a new picture is needed. The current one is better fitted for the American Wasteland page only. I was thinking this pic would be better. http://photos.signonsandiego.com/gallery1.5/album61/A0EE0098_resize --Seloth 23:11, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Nice article, very accurate and concise guys, congrats. Uncle Mart 18:45, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] more history / bio needed?
is it just me or are we missing a significant historical/biographical introduction? i got to this entry through bob burnquist's entry and was pretty impressed by the burnquist's article. i was expecting much more out of this one (as hawk is the more well-known skateboarder). unfortunately, i'm not qualified to make hawk's bio - can anyone else? cheers Abigail trotsky 01:20, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Riley Hawk

[edit] Lock the article to unregistered users
Tony Hawk seems like it's the most vandalized skate article (although it seems all skateboard articles are frequently vandalized). I'd like to see this one locked to unregistered users. Way more reverts than content being added. Dubkiller 20:51, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Decimal Point line
"It was in this publication that he revealed he actually rounds down to the nearest decimal point instead of rounding up." By itself, this line makes absolutely no sense. If the author would like to expand on it on how it shows his tenacity for striving for protection like you said, add it. Otherwise I could just add "Tony Hawk's blue helmet helped him win the X-Games" and justify it elsewhere. Dkkicks 02:39, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
I agree, and I am removing it. Such statements really needs to be put into context to hold any value. Ufretin 17:13, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tony Hawk's IQ
While waiting in line at "tony hawk's big spin" at Six flags: Fiesta Texas i had read he had an IQ of 144. is there truth th in this or was it tony hawk propaganda? 68.91.193.158 05:01, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Selected TV/Film appearances
I think it's time to get rid of this section. IMDB features all of this and more, and the list of appearances is pretty large especially with everyone putting in his cameos. Dubkiller 23:39, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Year of Birth
I do not immediately have a source to reference for Tony Hawk's year of birth, but I believe it's a comfortable assumtion that "1928" is incorrect. --Raphite 02:01, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Weren't you also surprised to see a stub, the article has been vandalised for several days. --fullcourt 02:33, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Tony Hawk speaks jive —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.10.101.129 (talk) 14:34, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Vandalism
There is vandalism at the bottom of the page. I tried to remove it, but it didn't show up in the code for me to delete. Can an admin take care of this?
- Vandalism removed. What happned was that the vandal had changed the template Tony Hawk Video Games so that every page with the video games box had that code. --Hdt83 Chat 04:33, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Text/Spelling
This article has some bad tone in and has some user-seen-stuff in like (i saw his big blow) or something like that , I got rid of it. It still needs more work and maybe a edit protetion on it from the bad writing. I also thought this would be a A+page but it is not. Guitar 4 Dummies (talk) 20:51, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Protect?
I think this would be one of the more heavily vandalized pages, may I give the suggestion that it be protected? SpookyPig (talk) 19:27, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tony Hawk Foundation
As of 2008, the THF has given away over $2 million in grants. Also, there should be a link to the foundation on the site. Marie (talk) 18:22, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Trivia and Special Appearances
If you're going to add facts about Hawk, do so in a constructive manner. Listing a bunch of special appearances and random little facts about him in one section is considered to be in bad style per WP:TRIVIA and should be avoided. Lists of these things seem to keep popping up in the Miscellaneous section and after the reflist; please remove them if you see them or bring it to the attention of another editor if you're not sure what to do. OverSS (talk) 20:34, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Tricks Invented
I can see the importance of such a list, but unless someone can provide sources the section should be removed; even if he did invent them and you know he invented them, you can't expect other people to just accept this information without a source. Goes against WP guildelines, anyway.
P.S.: Adding notice to the section. OverSS (talk) 20:41, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Business Interests?
(Tofudiva (talk) 20:56, 15 May 2008 (UTC))
Hi! I'd like to add this to the Business Interests section -what do you think?
Thanks!!
In 2007, Tony and his production company, 900 films, partnered with the Or Die Networks (creators of FunnyOrDie.com) to create his own action sports video sharing site, ShredOrDie.com. The site, which launched on October 23, 2007 is a place where top action sports athletes, filmmakers and everyday users can post action sports clips.
