Tokyo Freight Terminal Station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tokyo Freight Terminal Station (東京貨物ターミナル駅 Tōkyō Kamotsu Tāminaru Eki?) is a railway station located in the Yashio district of Shinagawa, Tokyo, east of Omori and north of Tokyo International Airport.
It is the largest rail freight terminal in Japan and principally handles freight traffic to and from western Japan via the Tōkaidō Main Line. A number of companies operate dedicated logistics facilities at the station, including Yamato Transport, Sagawa Express, Nippon Express and Kintetsu World Express.
Although the station is a terminus of a branchline of the Tōkaidō Main Line of East Japan Railway Company, an operator of passenger trains, it only serves freight trains of Japan Freight Railway Company. The station is adjacent to a rail yard for the Tōkaidō Shinkansen high-speed rail line.
