[edit] Please create a user page

Please create a user page at User:TimR. I could create it myself, but I prefer not to touch other people's user pages. Because of the existence of subpages such as User:TimR/Tables, it's just odd to not have an uplink. — Randall Bart 01:01, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Fair point - now done. Thanks. :-) TimR 07:48, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sortkeys

I started a discussion at Template talk:Sortablename, since there seem to be a number of unconnected efforts to create sortkeys for sortable wikitables. ~ trialsanderrors 23:20, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Very interesting - thanks. I'll have a good look at that. TimR 07:11, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for working on this excellent utility: sorting by surname was exactly what I was looking for. In the spirit of Burns Night, lang may yir lum reek! --NigelG (or Ndsg) | Talk 17:55, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:TheMemoirsOfSherlockHolmes-BBCAdaptation-TheFinalProblem-Extract.ogg)

Thanks for uploading Image:TheMemoirsOfSherlockHolmes-BBCAdaptation-TheFinalProblem-Extract.ogg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 22:59, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Little Ben

In this article you added the information that the clock is constantly one hour ahead of GMT. Is this true? Emeraude 16:16, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

I was told this some years ago by an London local history specialist as the explanation for the rather cryptic rhyme - I have to say that I am not sure whether it is still true (or indeed ever was) but I will try to check it out next time I am in London outside British Summer Time. TimR 16:32, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Peter Tobin references

When I viewed the page last, the references had disappeared entirely along with the categories, after (and presumably somehow as a result of) your edit. I didn't have the time just then to figure out why, hence the revert. Katharineamy (talk) 20:48, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Welcome, and thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test on the page Template:X4 worked, and it has been reverted or removed. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:ThinkTheUnthinkableCast.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:ThinkTheUnthinkableCast.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 01:03, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] About your recent edit..

On this edit, please see Wikipedia:Spelling on how to "spell check" correctly, because the way you are doing it is just.... woah. Thanks. -66.51.147.57 —Preceding comment was added at 00:11, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Another chart that won't work

Would you be willing to help me with another chart that is just not working? The lines are not going where they should, and I can't figure out why it isn't working. Thanks in advance. - LA @ 21:04, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Delighted to be able to help. Don't forget that a box (with text in it) has a width of 'three' compared to a line segment, with a width of 'one' which is why lines can seem to be too short (see the boxes section under the parameters paragraph. Also don't be afraid to experiment: I guess where things go, and then decide from looking whether a line should be a little longer or shorter and then just put more tiles into the appropriate line of the template. Eventually after many trials and previews, I get something I'm reasonably happy with.... :-) Feel free to shout for further help. TimR (talk) 21:51, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Just need an opinion

Tim...would you give me your opinion of a chart that I have made? It is here. I just need an opinion, since it is working well since you pointed out what I missed when reading the usage. - LA @ 06:00, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you about this. I'm really impressed with the chart. It's huge and you've put a lot of effort into it! If you're after any suggestions for changes or improvements, I have nothing to add: you've done an excellent job there. :-) TimR (talk) 09:48, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
