Onsager's solution of the 2D Ising model was actually published in 1949 in a joint paper with Kaufmann. In 1944 Onsager published just one paragraph with the answer. I am not sure that this has to be mentioned in the article.


I thought that Ising did not use the Ising model to describe magnetic systems. What is the source of the information about his application of the Ising model to magnetism?
