Marijuana Wiki
Hi there,
I see that you are a pro-Cannabis Wikipedian so I hope this will be of some interest to you.
I've started a Marijuana wiki (aka The Sticky Wiki) which I think you might be interested in. I'm hoping you can help me get started with this project. Whereas lots of articles about weed get speedy-deleted on Wikipedia, they would be totally cool over at MarijuanaWiki. But really I want the site to be more of a marijuana community than merely an encyclopedia.
To give you an example, I want to have city guides about where to score, find pot-friendly cafes, marijuana events, and what represents a good price in that city. Etc. (You can check out the featured article: "Toronto" to see what I mean). I also want to have grow diaries and marijuana blogs. All in all, basically more communal than encyclopedic.
I am in need of admins/moderators, and people experienced with MediaWiki to help build policy, categories, and templates, etc. If you'd be interested in helping me with this project, the URL is MarijuanaWiki
Thanks for your time and consideration. Hope to see you there!

william reid
there's a pretty good chance that you know more about this than i do, but what is your source for the bit on will reid using a fuzz-wah in the jmc? it's more out of personal curiosity to be honest. i can't recall any of their songs that use a Wah wah pedal, and it seemed so much more obvious for him to use the FY-2, which i've heard elsewhere. in the mean time, i'll change it to just "Shin-ei fuzzboxes" to be more general. License tagging for Image:Questions and answers CD2.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Questions and answers CD2.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:09, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
Young Team
I see that you moved the Mogwai album Young Team back to Mogwai Young Team. However, the band's record store is not the most reliable source information about the album title. A quick google search returns more results for "Young Team" separate from "Mogwai" than "Mogwai Young Team". Also, according to Mogwai's record label's website, the album is called "Young Team". So even "official" discographies are at odds. I say it should be kept as "Young Team". That's much better looking, and is how the album is more commonly referred to. Evan Reyes 00:00, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
I should add that the track listings on the "official" site also have all the titles in lowercase letters. Surely you don't support changing every album's tracks to lowercase on wikipedia because of that, do you? Evan Reyes 00:02, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- From Mogwai.co.uk's FAQ, written by the band members:
"A while after that, before the recording of Mogwai Young Team..."
"Q: How many records have you released? What are they? A: We have released 4 albums (Mogwai Young Team'..."
"When you're young, there are always gangs; "Oh, you can't go up there because there's this gang hanging about." none of us really were part of all that, but it's what we went to school with and just remembering the things that we used to see greatly amuses us. When we went on tour before we recorded the first album, we were getting quite silly. That's when we made up all our alternate names. And we decided that we were Mogwai Young Team: a gang. We got quite excited by a kind of tour madness and started writing "MYT" and we got a bit carried away." - John Cummings
The band themselves refer to the album as "Mogwai Young Team", so it is considered the official, proper title. Whether the track titles on the site are in lower case or not doesn't have anything to do with the fact that the album's called "Mogwai Young Team". "Young Team" is a scottish term which refers to a gang of youths, and they always have their town's name in their title, eg. CYT = Craiglang Young Team. "Young Team" doesn't make sense on it's own. I believe it should be kept as "Mogwai Young Team". Daisy-berkowitz 00:27, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Also, The Beatle's 1968 album "The Beatles" is commonly referred to as "The White Album", but it's wikipedia page is still The Beatles. Why should "Mogwai Young Team" be any different? Daisy-berkowitz 00:34, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
My point about the lowercase track names was that the link you provided cannot be taken as a 100%, canonical source of Mogwai's discography. The site is horribly inconsistent, and is run by "Resonance", not Mogwai themselves. Even considering the meaning of the term "young team", that doesn't mean it always has to have the hometown in front of it. If there is an unspecified "young team", then there wouldn't be a hometown in front. I say we open a vote on the talk page to find a general consensus. Evan Reyes 00:39, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. Daisy-berkowitz 00:41, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Quick question. Do you disagree with my moves of "Mr Beast" to "Mr. Beast", "Come On Die Young" to "Come on Die Young", and "Government Commissions" to "Government Commissions: BBC Sessions 1996-2003"? Evan Reyes 00:57, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know about Mr. Beast, CODY and Government Commissions don't really matter. Daisy-berkowitz 09:16, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Russell brand.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. Fair use rationale for Image:Clara.rockmores.lost.theremin.album.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Clara.rockmores.lost.theremin.album.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:4satin vinyl.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:4satin vinyl.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

Advice on uploading images
Hello!
Thanks for uploading some pictures to Wikipedia. I wanted to make sure you were aware of some of the requirements and good practices for uploaded images.
- Pick an image name.
- When uploading an image, pick a file name that is descriptive, and unique. Remember that many images may be uploaded about the same topic, and remember that names are case sensitive.
- Source the image.
- On the image description page, explain where the image came from. If you created the image yourself, then say so. If it's from the web, give a URL. If it's a screenshot of a movie or game, or a scan from a book, give the title.
- Provide copyright and license information.
- This part is a little bit trickier, but it's very important. The copyright of the image generally belongs to whomever created it.
- If it's a photograph you took, or an image you created (modifying an image that already exists doesn't count) in software like Photoshop or GIMP, then you own the copyright. To upload it to Wikipedia, you must agree to license it under the GFDL (which allows anyone to use it, but requires that they give credit to the original author and requires that any further edit to the image be licensed under the GFDL as well) or release it into the public domain (which allows anyone to use it for any purpose without restriction.) Do this by placing an appropriate tag on the image description page, like {{GFDL}} or {{PD-self}}. Be sure to mention that you created the image. If you're using {{PD-self}}, you may also want to use {{NoRightsReserved}}, since there is some dispute as to whether one may grant items into the public domain.
- If you didn't create the image, or the copyright somehow belongs to another party (like a screenshot, which you might "create", but the copyright belongs to the author of the movie or video game), then you need to find another tag that describes the copyright status of the image. Images used on Wikipedia need to be free for our use and the use of sites which reproduce our content. This means that images cannot have a restriction such as "only for use by Wikipedia", or "for non-commercial use only", or "for educational use". Images without a free license may be usable in certain articles under fair use, but such a use should be justified on the image description page.
- Describe the image.
- To another reader, the image may not be immediately understood. A caption in an article doesn't explain the image to a visitor who sees it on its image page. Put a brief explanation of what is in the image on the image description page, similar to what you might include in a caption on an article.

Review dates in album infoboxes
I notice you've been removing some review dates from album infoboxes, replacing them with "link", most recently on Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not. While "link" is more common in practice than review dates for album reviews, review dates are actually preferred, and "link" should only be used if no review date can be found, as per WP:ALBUM#Professional reviews. Have a nice day. --PEJL 18:14, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

- Coolio - I have to say that the stage shows aren't my forte - sorry. As for the radio series, if you can get hold of a copy of them it's well worth it. What else do you think is needed? ...adam... (talk • contributions) 17:33, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm quite fond of the stage shows. I already have the radio series, yeah, It's great... I think that maybe the main five characters could each have a page of their own... Maybe not though. Good work on the whole "Minor characters featured" bit in all the episode pages, by the way. Daisy-berkowitz 20:05, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! I'm avoiding coursework so I have a lot of procrastinable time on my hands. And the main 5 do deserve their own pages in my opinion, just there isn't enough to put there yet (vince had one but there was nothing on it apart from the odd "LOL VINCE IZ HOTTT" and noone bothered to turn it into a healty article to it got speedily deleted). Having said that I think that the hitcher and the bongo brothers do have enough, but they're only minor characters and so require less.
The character descriptions are really not up to scratch to be honest though, so making sure that it's all coherent and not garbled is probably the priority. They need to be character descriptions rather than lists of jokes or the garbled mess most of them are at the moment. But then again I'm a pedant (speaking of which, good work on the edit on my userpage). ...adam... (talk • contributions) 20:44, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Wowser - good work. Now what do do with the main page now all the information is all over... but excellent job. Just one thing though, I'm not sure about the fair use on Image:Autoboosh.the.list.cover.jpg - do you have to meet both the following criteria?
- to illustrate the publication of the issue of the magazine in question
- with the publication name either visible on the image itself or written in the image description above
If so, it fails the first obviously. If not it should be good. ...adam... (talk • contributions) 23:16, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Cheers. And about the Boosh on the cover of The List, I just thought It'd be a useful image to have on the page. I'm not really sure about the licensing I put on it...Daisy-berkowitz 23:26, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Don't get me wrong - it looks great. And if the copyright only needs one two to be fulfilled then it shall remain so. I just wondered if you knew rather than me checking anywhere else. ...adam... (talk • contributions) 23:31, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- What should I add to keep the image from being deleted?Daisy-berkowitz 23:34, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
If both have to be satisfied - then nothing, it will have to be deleted as otherwise it's a breach of copyright. If only one has to hold then its safe indefinitely. However, Flikr is a good place to find images of live shows by people that will be willing to release the copyright of their photos if the images does get deleted and needs a replacement. ...adam... (talk • contributions) 23:50, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Hey, on Autoboosh (2000 Stage show), if you could add a section on what the magazine said about the show, or what was in the article about them, then the image can probably say. Thought I'd let you know. ...adam... (talk • contributions) 17:14, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- I dunno what the article said about them, I've only seen the cover... Daisy-berkowitz 17:28, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

I have tagged Image:The red thread by arab strap.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you.

Creative works "are" not "were" unless (for example) they're destroyed. Aquila is still quite existent, even if not broadcast any more (which sucks, I enjoyed the show back then). Take for example this: we wouldn't refer to the Mona Lisa as "was a painting" as it still exists, even though it was created in, well, a long time ago. See also WP:TENSE for some more information. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Biffy.clyro.logo.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Biffy.clyro.logo.png. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Fair use rationale for Image:Questions_and_answers_CD1.gif
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Questions_and_answers_CD1.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 18:27, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Beatle.boots.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Beatle.boots.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 08:25, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Unspecified source for Image:Biffy.clyro.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Biffy.clyro.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:01, 23 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 10:01, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Image:Stuart.braithwaite.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Stuart.braithwaite.jpg. However, when I reviewed the source link, I found that the actual license was not {{cc-by-sa-2.0}}, but instead {{cc-by-nc-nd-2.0}} which we cannot accept on Wikipedia. I have change the license, and it is likely that the image will soon be deleted. There are plenty of acceptably licensed images of Mogwai on Flickr, including many of the individual artists. Category:Mogwai
Hi again. Before you add more articles to Category:Mogwai, please note that WP:CfD precedent is against keeping such categories. See WP:ALBUM#Categories for the categories that should be used on album articles. Have a nice day. --PEJL 18:47, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- That applies to songs as well, AFAIK. I think having Category:Mogwai songs be part of Category:Mogwai should be acceptable, but having the individual song articles be part of Category:Mogwai as well is not, per Wikipedia:Categorization. --PEJL 18:54, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- D'oh! Thanks --Daisy-berkowitz 18:59, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- Would using Category:Mogwai in each individual member of the band's articles be acceptable? --Daisy-berkowitz 19:18, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- You know, I'm actually not all that experienced in this type of category work. I checked some high-profile artist categories, and they all used a Category:ARTIST > Category:ARTIST members > MEMBER structure, so that appears to be acceptable. --PEJL 20:26, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- Would using Category:Mogwai in each individual member of the band's articles be acceptable? --Daisy-berkowitz 19:18, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

High heels changes
I suppose there's really no problem with making it page width (although my original idea in keeping it narrow was to cut down on whitespace); that seems to be the trend these days. Otherwise, it looks neat. Daniel Case 04:07, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded
Thanks for uploading Image:Russell Brand - My Booky Wook.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:9780340936153.jpg. The copy called Image:9780340936153.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot (talk) 13:29, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
My Booky Wook
A tag has been placed on My Booky Wook requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. UtherSRG (talk) 16:49, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
No content in Category:The Mighty Boosh episodes
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:The Mighty Boosh episodes, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:The Mighty Boosh episodes has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:The Mighty Boosh episodes, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 01:30, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

The Mighty Boosh
Do you have the capability of adding production and reception information pertaining to each series? If not, there is no reason to split that article. TTN (talk) 17:50, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

- Generally, it is best not to create articles if you have no idea about their potential. Seeing as there is no problem with length, can you please either find some quick sources or revert it back to the way that it was? TTN (talk) 18:17, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- How much information on production and reception would you say is needed to keep the articles? Daisy-berkowitz (talk) 18:36, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- To establish a minimum sense of notability, one paragraph for each would probably be enough (though just to satisfy me, a few references each would be fine). To actually keep the articles around, you probably need two or three paragraphs for each. Otherwise, they would better serve as openings for the sections on the list. So, if you can just find a couple for right now, I'm be fine with dropping it for a while, but eventually, they should be merged back if there is not enough to warrant separation. Smallville (season 1) is a good example if you're in need of one. TTN (talk) 18:41, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- I think I've got a few useful links which could serve as references... I'll get to work. Daisy-berkowitz (talk) 18:47, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Your Edit to the Hitcher
Hi. Thanks for correcting the "first appearance" bit. However would you be able to add a section in appearances about the role he plays in Autoboosh, especially if theres some good character information in it as the wiki article is no help and I'm far too lazy to do a google search.
