Thierry Claveyrolat (March 31, 1959September 7, 1999) was a French road bicycle racer, professional between the years 1983 and 1994. Born in La Tronche, in the region of Rhône-Alpes, he was notable for being the King of the Mountains in the 1990 Tour de France, in which he also won a stage, as well in the 1991 Tour de France. Claveyrolat's best finish in the Tour de France was in 1986, when was 17th in the final general classification.

Claveyrolat committed suicide at his home in Notre-Dame-de-Mésage (Isère) on September 7, 1999. He had been held responsible for a traffic accident which left four people seriously injured on August 13 of that year, and spiraled into a deep depression from which he did not recover. Claveyrolat's unexpected death was not the first by a Tour de France climbing sensation, nor the last. 1905 Tour de France winner René Pottier hung himself in 1907. 1998 Tour de France winner Marco Pantani died of an apparent cocaine overdose in 2004, and Spanish climber José Maria Jimenez died of a heart attack in 2002 at age 32 after suffering depression for two years.
