[edit] Origin of the list of Thirteen Treasures

The Wikipedia reader needs to know, Whose list is this? Where is it found? What's the date of the list? Wetman 21:37, 26 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Some sources-
  • Peniarth 147 (manuscript), dated to the late 16th century C.E.
  • various mediaeval Welsh poems / triads
I have this article on my 'to-do' list, so it will be given more details soon. A wonderful secondary source for the original attested mentions of the treasures and the people associated with them is- Trioedd Ynys Prydein, edited and translated by Rachel Bromwich in 1961 (and I think there was a 2nd edition later, if memory serves me correctly). I have it here, and will use it in working on the article. Slainté, → P.MacUidhir (t) (c) 18:51, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

I have found a source of this and copied the direct details and added links to it. There was part of the original missing in the former version (section 10) which has been corrected, in addition I have added the reference and further reading. James Frankcom

[edit] Treasure

What about the Cauldron of Clyddno Eiddyn this was I thought the most powerful Treasure created by Bel to keep his human wife alive. It was later subsiteded for the Holy Grail in the Arthur stories after Christianstion of the legend--Rhydd Meddwl 22:58, 14 April 2006 (UTC).

I've never heard of that before. I think you might be confusing some of the other treasures... where did you get that?--Cúchullain t/c 07:02, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, that's a modern work of fiction. I can't find anything else about that cauldron, I'd imagine it was made up by the author as a plot device.--Cúchullain t/c 19:05, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Number

There are currently only twelve treasures. What gives?

The Crock and Dish count as two. In all lists I have found I have seen them clumped in such a way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.210.136.233 (talk) 04:46, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
