[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Windows XP TPC Logo.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Windows XP TPC Logo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Registry Editor Vista.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Registry Editor Vista.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:11, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Windows Media Player 11 XP.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Windows Media Player 11 XP.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 20:53, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Public reception and sales and criticism

Who are we to determine that reception and sales are the result of criticism? - Josh (talk | contribs) 23:05, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

The section in question describes the result of criticism of Windows Vista. Therefore, it should be in Criticism of Windows Vista. Themodernizer (talk) 00:09, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
You already said that. Now explain how we know reception and sales are the result of criticism. - Josh (talk | contribs) 00:17, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
The section states that. Themodernizer (talk) 00:18, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh, so it does...but there's no citation for it. - Josh (talk | contribs) 01:18, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Themodernizer, you have exceeded your revert limit. Don't make an edit that goes against the consensus. If you feel it should be on one page and not the other, draft a summary for one page with a "main article" template, and only after having a discussion on the Vista talk page. If you get a consensus for change, so be it. Otherwise, if you continue to make changes without a consensus, you will likely be blocked from editing on Wikipedia. Now, even if you want to go by your argument that reception is a result of the criticism and therefor belong on the same page, you would need to have it show up on the Vista article like the criticisms are: in summary form and not complete removal. (By the way, reception and criticisms have the same cause: problems in the OS itself.) Althepal (talk) 00:48, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

I have not exceeded the revert limit. Themodernizer (talk) 00:57, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
The revert limit is 3. You have made the same edit 4 times in a row. 4>3. Althepal (talk) 01:36, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
The first time wasn't a revert. - Josh (talk | contribs) 01:42, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Spider Solitaire - Merge?

Are you planning on merging the to articles? Bytebear (talk) 23:44, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

No; there was no consensus for the merge. Themodernizer (talk) 23:45, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Why delete Winmine2.png where everyone can see the diffs between the first and latest Minesweeper?? Dr. F.C. Turner - [USERPAGE|USERTALK] - 12:46, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

A separate image can be added to the article. Themodernizer (talk) 20:23, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Paint Vista.png

Thank you for uploading Image:Paint Vista.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Info dropped from Windows Explorer article

As of this edit, some information regarding command line usage was removed. While I agree with WP:NOT, computing related articles will naturally contain some manual-like info and there is bound to be some overlap between general info and guidance. What say? :)

This section does not belong in the article according to WP:NOT because it is a guide to command-line parameters of the application. Themodernizer (talk) 21:46, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
It would be good if the article at least mentioned that command-line parameters are available, and then link to an external source describing them. Not mentioning it at all doesn't really help the informative value of the article. -/- Warren 22:08, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
