Kentucky Derby
All suggerstions are welcome at Wikipedia:WikiProject Thoroughbred racing. Note, however, that for those doing a high volume of articles on Derby winners, jockeys, trainers, owners, and breeders, it is a very connsiderable amount of extra work and exceedingly difficult switching to the isolated "K D winners" page. Note as well, that all infoxes show the race won as the KD alone and I think all Project members want users to have easy access to full details instead of sorting through tons of text at Kentucky Derby to find there is a separate list of winners unlike every other Thoroughbred horse race of which there are a great many worldwide listings at Wikipedia. As to the length of the article, it is tiny compared to many others and the lkist is now converted to "small font" format that conforms to the lists Project members agreed upon. Thanx. P.S. - That sortable table is terrific and greatly appreciated. Handicapper 15:28, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
You weren't "out of line" at all. Diligence and dedication to quality is fundamental and I laud those who take the time, particularly for subjects where they aren't active editors. It helps us who are, and certainly helps Wikipedia. Thanx again. Handicapper 15:43, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Scotland national football team
Would you so kind as to cast your eye over the Scotland national football team article again? I hope you don't mind me asking but you were the only person to show much interest. I think we've addressed most of your previous concerns, any further input would be great. Kanaye 16:30, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
A long shot...
I've been trying to source the data to complete Robson's manager stats, without success. I've tried a long shot at Clio's talk page (I'm too poor/cheap to buy the book meself) and we'll see what we can do. I've got some ideas of what we could do if we can't find the data. Also, what do you think of the idea of doing a season by season chart for Robson, like for ITFC, showing where he finished with his teams. Could change the line colour for each club? --Dweller 10:14, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

The Rambling Man, according to the deletion log, The Wilberforce Wanderers A.F.C. was deleted by you on May 9th. Why was this deleted? Is it possible for you to restore it? Thanks, CR —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.169.28.190 (talk • contribs).

Heya
Hey there buddy. Just checking in to see how it's all going. I've noticed you're on vacation, and I hope that's going well. We're having BEAUTIFUL weather here in the Midwest States, (aside from the ever-present thunderstorms that attempt the kill us everyday), and I'm loving every minute of it. Was just seeing how you were, and seeing if you had perhaps formulated any ideas on how I could improve my Wikipedia experience as an admin-coachee. Not trying to press or anything, but just seeing how your ideas were going. Hope all is well, hope your vacation is fabulous, and I hope to hear from you soon!
Yours,

- Hey, sorry it took awhile to get back to you. Thanks for the suggestions. My edits as of late have been quite hockey-related, as I am a huge hockey fanatic, and only have about 2 weeks left before I am starved of it for a few months. Also, I have begun to fiddle with tables and such within articles, and have begun cleaning up past NHL Playoffs articles. I'm back up to about 35+ hours at work now, and my edits are slowing down a bit. I spent the last 6 weeks heavily editing, due to my having major surgery on my jaw, and had my mouth wired shut, unable to do much but sit here and convalesce in from on the television and laptop screen. But I still am able to edit quite a bit in my free time. Hope all is well, thanks for the tips, and I will take them to heart! Enjoy Cuba (always wanted to go there...apparently illegal for me to however lol). Best,

I think the only remaining comment is about the claim in the opening parag. How about doubling up source 4 for the end of that sentence too? --Dweller 09:46, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I guess so, although citations in the lead are often looked down upon. I'll go do it and see what happens. I'm certain we won't get Zleitzen back on board though...! The Rambling Man 09:55, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Latin American subaltern studies
Hi. I note that you speedy deleted Latin American subaltern studies, within about three hours (or less) of a speedy delete note, and with no attempt to contact its creator (me). Look at my contributions: are the pages I create generally candidates for speedy delete? It seems to me obvious that the article didn't qualify for speedy delete rather than (say) a prod. I'm not too impressed with the way you went about things. --Jbmurray 19:41, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Me neither. Responded on your page. The Rambling Man 19:52, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

- Copied over from User_talk:Jbmurray: Thanks for taking the time to reply. I see what you're saying, though it was only by posing a question at Wikipedia_talk:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#Questions_on_Speedy_Delete_Process that I could even have half a clue as to what was going on. I'm surprised at both speedy deletes, frankly. The second because I'd have thought the purpose of the "hangon" tag was to signal precisely that someone was working on the article. The first because, though the article obviously needed expansion and some work on establishing notability, in context it clearly didn't qualify for speedy delete. (A Prod, perhaps.) Moreover, again a quick look at the creator (me) and my contributions might have prompted you (or the other editor) to drop me a line. And on the {{hangon}} tag, give me a second or two!! --Jbmurray 20:01, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Derry City F.C. templates
Hmm, I am on a Mac so cannot tell. I've reverted them and give the templates a going-over later tonight when I'll have more time to sort out - probably a problem with {{FAI League}}, which doesn't use the football box templates. Qwghlm 15:17, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Donald Bradman
Hey congrats on Bill O'Reilly, anyways reading how Donald Bradman is the best batsman of all time would you be interest in trying to give this article a FA push? Also, are we calling the CCOTM inactive or are we going to continue with it? I hope we continue.--THUGCHILDz 06:18, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'd be delighted to carry on with the CCOTM, so can I suggest you update the current collaboration accordingly and then we'll crack on with Richie Benaud. If you want the Don done then perhaps he should be added to the CCOTM future collaborations voting? All the best, The Rambling Man 07:34, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
-
- Benaud would be great, as would the Don. The last time we discussed it, there was mention of Inzamam-ul-Haq, Muttiah Muralitharan, Brian Lara. We should probably try for one per Test team. -- ALoan (Talk) 10:50, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed, I was trying to keep in-line with the CCOTM when I suggested Richie... perhaps you'd like to suggest the others for inclusion as well? The Rambling Man 10:55, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Brett Lee
Hi there. I was wondering if you could look at this report User_talk:Blnguyen#Brett_Lee_sockpuppetry, since I was having a problem with this guy (so was Dweller) and now his socks. As far as "Blnguyin" goes, his edits were to Blnguyen and User:Blnguyen - now deleted. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 06:48, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

New category
Hi there. I think it would be useful to set up a category for England 'B' international footballers. There are articles about quite a few of them on wikipedia, and while there are categories for most other England representative levels, there doesn't seem to be one for 'B' level. Using your 'admin hat', do you know how I could go about setting one up? Thanks. --EH74DK 11:15, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for your prompt reply on my talkpage. I've raised the proposed category at WP Football. --EH74DK 11:55, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
TROMA
Yo Steve, please help man. Like I said, I've tried to post the most unbiased page I could. I took out anything that could be perceived as positive and tried to lay out all the facts about our company. I know you've probably got better things to do, but can you please help me get this page to a form that is acceptable to everyone. Right now, as I said, the page is untrue, negatively biased and not based on any sources. Further, it's completely slanderous, and gives our clients a poor impression of our company when they look us up on your site. The world does not need to take one misguided fan's version of our company's history as truth. Please contact me at jeremy@troma.com to discuss further. Thanks.
- Um, (1) I'm not Steve, (2) I've never heard of you or this article, but (3) if I can help, could you be specific as to what the problem seems to be? The Rambling Man 15:01, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

GAC backlog elimination drive
This form message is being sent to you either due to your membership with WikiProject Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. A new drive has been started requesting that all members review at least one article (or more, if you wish!) within the next two weeks at GAC to help in removing the large backlog. This message is being sent to all members, and even members who have been recently reviewing articles. There are almost 130 members in this project and about 180 articles that currently need to be reviewed. If each member helps to review just one or two articles, the majority of the backlog will be cleared. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the GAC talk page. --Nehrams2020 00:35, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Hillary Clinton
Look, I have no alliance with any political figures. But I know for a fact that the information put up on Hillary Clinton is completly one-sided. That woman and her gender politics will be the death of the every day man if she is allowed to mascarade as a single woman. Women like that don't get respect from people like me, and I will live out the rest of my life writing factual books on the people that she has extorted in her life time, examples of great men that she destroyed.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Etom (talk • contribs).
- Well, thanks for that. The Rambling Man 10:17, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
vandal
thanks for the block - too generous though! You might want to watch this - seems to be same guy: [1] and [2] followed by this [3] —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tvoz (talk • contribs).
- Yeah, User:Etom has made his feelings clear (above)... weird because I blocked an anonymous IP editor, not him.... perhpas they are, indeed, one and the same... The Rambling Man 10:19, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes it was me, and for good reason of which I will not disclose my overwhelming evidence against Hillary Clinton because I do not intend to vote in the 2008 presidential election. A no-vote of silence is a vote for non-involvement in a childish name-calling debate. Or a wasted election cycle that has no bering on the future or direction of this country. Some day the intelectuals that actually fought in the Vietnam war will have their voices heard and tell the truth of what that woman and the people that stood with her really stood for. It was not for personal freedoms or support for the every-day individual, but it was to crush the ideology of individual thought and survival of the fittest. Etom 12:54, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
On a personal note people will soon find out just how many lifes that woman and the people that she affiliated herself with from 1965 to 2006. So Tvoz, can continue to subscribe to the other school of thought, that people should feel guilty for personal sucess in this country, and that people like me should pick up after people like you or make people like you feel good about youself with meaningless awards or scolarships to universities that dumb you down. When the only real learning is what takes place after one has compleated their education. That the only true path for an individual is one that understands both sides of the argument, and that continuing to throw broken arguments and unnecessary lables on people like myself only push me farther away from people like you, and only damages your arguments even more in the heart of an every-day man. Etom 13:13, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's all very well but if you threaten other editors you'll be blocked. If you blank vast sections of pages here you'll be blocked. I don't have any arguments, I'm just here to help ensure the integrity of the encyclopaedia. So, please edit with care, without personal attack and with verifiable sources. All the best. The Rambling Man 13:18, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
My fight is not with you Rambling man, I only hope you can maintian neutrality if you do have the authority to block peoples IP addresses or accounts. But in "rock-wars" people like Tvoz only take people like me seriously if they feel their life is some how effected. I however can take the punishment that any individual wishes to place upon me. Etom 13:27, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
I mean no physical harm to anyone it is just difficult to see people defending criminals in this country that really belong in jail, some of which I am sure your people experineed over the years against the British. But people like Tvoz use the same tactics over and over again against people like me who wish to stay out of the pointless fights. But that some people are drawn in to to protect their peace of mind. Etom 13:40, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Then we need some way to prevent people from deleting proven history, or omitting important facts from wikipedia that need to be known. When Clinton's husband was in office he destroyed the very evidence that proved their crimes by re-writing their past history. We do have personal testimony and the evidence is on the record, but like I have said until the books are written the arguments need to stay out there. But in the future I will do my best to follow Wikipedias guidelines. Etom 13:52, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
