Dyrnwch Gawr derives from the Welsh Dyrnu meaning ‘to thump’ or to beat something, whilst the Old Welsh Dyrnig translates to ‘Fierce’. Dyrnwch Gawr therefore describes a fierce and violent Giant [1].
