The Blackout Pact was a post-hardcore band from Denver, Colorado. They formed in the early summer of 2003, and broke up in November 2006. The band was influenced by Hot Water Music, Small Brown Bike, Alkaline Trio, The Lawrence Arms, and Murder City Devils.

In October of 2004, Geoff Rickly signed The Blackout Pact to the indie label Astro Magnetics. Rickly also produced their first CD Hello Sailor. They went on to tour with such bands as Fight Paris, Drowningman, The Lawrence Arms, The Fall of Troy, The Draft, Rise Against, The Number 12 Looks Like You, Yellowcard, Heavy Heavy Low Low, Silverstein, Mae and more. They were well known for being a favorite to larger bands. In 2005 they released a video to the song "We Drink So You Don't Have to." The band was known for their heavy drinking and haphazard affinity for prescription drugs.
November 2006, As reported on their Myspace, The Blackout Pact have decided to break up after a tour with Scary Kids Scaring Kids after one of the members stole one of the members of Scary Kids' laptop and got them kicked off the tour. Former frontman Mike Herrera is fronting a new band, Sleeperhorse, which recently completed a mid-west tour and has opened for The Draft, Gaslight Anthem and others. Also, Justin Hackl is now playing with the band Only Thunder.
