The film is in Croatian languae (i.e. "Serbo-Croatian"), at least it was in Yugoslavia. I have VHS captured from a recent broadcast at Croatian National TV. The cast was mostly from Yugoslavia, as it was usual in the Yugoslavian productions of the 1950s, while few Italian stars were dubbed by the local actors.

All films in Italy are still dubbed into Italian, so was this one. I presume that the film played in Croatian language outside Italy; in any case, if it was nominated for Oscar as Yugoslavian film, then the Academy saw it in Serbo-Croatian language, not in Italian.
