Talk:The Clangers
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Has the Clangers election special actually been wiped? According to http://www.clangers.co.uk/clip.htm it's stored in the BBC archive at Brentford. But then, that page was last updated over 5 years ago --PS4FA
- The BBC isn't into wiping these days, so if it really is in the archive it's safe. Presumably the reason it hasn't been repeated is that it's no longer topical. -- Lee M
Peter Firmin only said that it had 'probably' been wiped. ISTM that Clangers was a filmed colour series and so would be less prone to 'wiping' than its monochrome video'ed contemporaries.David Farmbrough 4/Apr/'05
The show's title according to the opening title and DVD set, is Clangers rather than The Clangers. Should the page be moved to reflect this? -- Lee M
- Most people know it as The Clangers, so i guess it's probably OK to leave the title as just that. Maybe there should be a redirect from Clangers --PS4FA
The article says ...the sound made by opening the metal cover of one of the creatures' burrows.... If my memory serves (hey, it's only 30 years) aren't these metal covers little shiny dustbin-lids? -- Finlay McWalter 02:15, 15 Nov 2003 (UTC)
- Yes, they are.
Saucepan lids. The handle is different. Also the scale would be too large if they were dustbin lids.David Farmbrough 4/Apr/'05
Didn't they live on the Moon...not "a small, hollow planet far far away," --Scuzzmonkey 21:59, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Where is it specified the planet atmosphere is absent and a vacuum? Yes, I know it's picky! Steve 03:43, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Episode one shows a Clanger inflating a balloon using a foot-pump. That balloon provides lift. Also, Major Clanger's flying machine flaps its wings to fly, as does the iron chicken in another episode. A vacuum? I think not! Macmic77 22:06, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Clangers-album.jpg
Image:Clangers-album.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 18:41, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Clanger f/x
I sampled a toy Clanger that my mother bought me as a present a few years back. The ogg is up on Commons here, I don't know how to use the embedded player to add this in to the article. --Brianmc 11:24, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
