Zeitgeist track listing

"That's the Way (My Love Is)" is a song written by Billy Corgan and performed by The Smashing Pumpkins on their album Zeitgeist. Like a handful of songs from Zeitgeist, the song was originally aired on the radio special "Inside Smashing Pumpkins: Zeitgeist" a week before the album hit stores.

"That's the Way (My Love Is)" is the second single from the album, and was released to radio in August of 2007, with a retail single in September. The music video was released August 29, 2007 on the band's MySpace and was directed by P.R. Brown, who directed the videos for "Tarantula" and Corgan's "Walking Shade." The song was played live on The Late Show with David Letterman on July 13, 2007.[2]

Billy Corgan commented that the song initially sounded like an outtake from 1995's Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness,[3] but it was slowed down and given a different drum beat in the course of recording the song.[4]

Some of the formats contain a solo guitar and vocal live performance of "Daydream" by Corgan recorded on 5th of June 2007 in Berlin, Germany [5]

[edit] Music Video

The music video is directed by P.R. Brown, who also directed the videos for "Tarantula" and Corgan's "Walking Shade". It is set in a dull, gray, futuristic world. Most of the video is set up on a loose plot of Corgan trying to follow a woman. The video then cuts to the band performing on a platform, still in the futuristic world, while images of the band float around on screens.
