[edit] List of A&M people

Howdy Texink. I am trying to get the List of Texas A&M University people article to featured list status. The only schools who are on it now are Georgia Tech and Darthmouth. Currently, I am getting the article more organized and putting the people into tables, as those articles did. I am currently making changes in my sandbox. You seem to be pretty good at coding. If you have the chance, can you add tables for the sections I left out? The tables use the Template:AlumniStart. I also deleted some of the baseball players whom I didn't think were too notable; feel free to re-add/delete any. You don't have to do this if it sounds too tedious. BlueAg09 (Talk) 11:35, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Excellent! I'm sure that took a lot of pain. I'm impressed. Here's another barnstar for you.

To Texink, for his extremely great and endless work in improving the List of Texas A&M University people article. BlueAg09 (Talk) 00:47, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, but it wasn't that bad. I don't know how we're gonna find all the class years for these people. -Texink[ talk ] 04:11, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Finding the class years for the alumni outside of sports isn't bad. Google helps a lot. How do you think we should indicate the former students who have not graduated? Also, do you think those meteorologists under "Media" are notable? BlueAg09 (Talk) 18:23, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Ah, now we have all the football player's class years. BlueAg09 (Talk) 08:48, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Excellent. I'm not sure how to note people who never graduated or transferred. I'm sure whatever you think is best is fine. If the goal is to make it a FA, we'll find out eventually if it needs to be changed. I don't think the meteorologists are notable, but I don't have a strong opinion on it. -Texink[ talk ] 18:44, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Wow, many notable former students have been left out of the list. I went through the list of every article that links to the A&M article. Turns out that I found plenty of good former students and added them to my sandbox to add later to the list. I went through the first two 1000 articles, can you go through the third set to look for people of interest? Just add them to the list or to my sandbox. Don't worry about football players, we already have enough of them ;) BlueAg09 (Talk) 09:10, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
I added the ones that looked notable to me. I didn't set the bar very high for notability, so remove any names you don't think fit. -Texink[talk] 18:47, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for doing that. That page was pretty much the last set of articles that link to A&M, so we should have most, if not all, the former students on the list now. Anyhow, I finished adding the class years/citations for the football players. Would you mind doing the baseball and basketball players? The letterman's association website seems to list all the athletes who played at A&M, (Active, Nonactive, and Missing) so use those three pages to find the class years of the athletes. (Good thing you have Firefox to easily find names with CTRL+F) I used the following ref tags for each one, respectively: <ref name=ActiveFB/>, <ref name=NonActiveFB/>, and <ref name=MissingFB/>. To cite they played the sport, I guess you can use this for basketball and this for baseball unless you can find a better source. Make sure the citation numbers are ordered numerically, as they are in the football player section. Hope you got all that! :) BlueAg09 (Talk) 19:36, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I'm back

Well, I've gone and done it and the Aggie Band article is up for Featured Article status. Any feedback (especially support) would be greatly appreciated. BQZip01 talk 08:26, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Done. Nice work. -Texink[talk] 18:47, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!!!

Well folks, thanks to your reviews and comments, the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band is now a featured article on Wikipedia. It should take a day or so to update, but it's a done deal. Thanks for the help, Texink. BQZip01 talk 19:21, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] College Baseball Project

Hello, I noticed that you have edited a College baseball related article. You may be interested to know that there is a college baseball WikiProject which you can join if you like. We would love to have you!

[edit] Slocum

Not sure if you noticed this, but Slocum edited his own article a while back. Pretty neat, eh? [1] BlueAg09 (Talk) 08:11, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 1st???

That is sick!! BlueAg09 (Talk) 07:39, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes, good news, especially since A&M fell in the US News ranking. -Texink[talk] 07:57, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 2007 Texas A&M Aggies football team

Howdy Texink! How's the semester going? If you ever have the time, feel free to add to this article. I'm not a college football nut, (though I'm trying to be one) so I may make some "wrong" edits. For example, I thought DS stood for "defensive safety" until I found out it stood for "deep snapper". I'll generally avoid adding this I'm not sure about, though. Anyhow, take care! BTHO this season! BlueAg09 (Talk) 07:03, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Superb addition! BlueAg09 (Talk) 03:48, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Have any of our players been named to All-American or All-Conference teams? If so, add those under "watch lists". BlueAg09 (Talk) 21:37, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Out of curiosity, do you post on TexAgs? What's your username? BlueAg09 (Talk) 05:04, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RFC/USER discussion concerning (ThreeE)

Hello, Texink. Please be aware that a request for comments has been filed concerning ThreeE's conduct on Wikipedia. The RFC entry can be found by "ThreeE" in this list, and the actual discussion can be found at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/ThreeE, where I would appreciate your participation and comments. — BQZip01 — talk 12:06, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 2007-08 Texas A&M Aggies men's basketball team

Started this article. We need to add the roster, preseason watch lists, etc. We'll just have to update the schedule; game notes take too much time and would make the article very lengthy. BlueAg09 (Talk) 01:58, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Good job. I was planning on adding that table but was too lazy to ;) BlueAg09 (Talk) 03:41, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I wouldn't have done it if I knew how much time it would take... :) -Texink[talk] 03:43, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fran

Didn't he give the Lobos a WAC - Mountain Division championship in 1997? See this BlueAg09 (Talk) 00:00, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes, he won the division but lost the WAC title game (see Western Athletic Conference football champions under "Championship Games". So it would be like giving Slocum credit for a conference title in 1997. -Texink[talk] 00:54, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Good thing they added the teal color for division titles. BlueAg09 (Talk) 21:17, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
Question - Sherman's A&M bio says "Sherman's coaching career began in 1981-82, when he was a part-time coach at the University of Pittsburgh." Then it lists him coaching at Stamford High School and Worcester Academy before coaching at Pittsburgh. What's up with that? BlueAg09 (Talk) 00:57, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Must mean NCAA coaching career, I guess. Looks like a good hire to me, even though I was hoping for someone else! :) -Texink[talk] 01:02, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Let's hope he does something like this. I'd like to see us get our first trophy of the century soon.... BlueAg09 (Talk) 01:06, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
I think Sherman was actually an English teacher at those high schools. This source says he worked as an English teacher right after college, before going to Pittsburgh. The thing about his coaching career starting at Pittsburgh now makes sense. Anyhow, I removed those high schools from the infobox. BlueAg09 (Talk) 03:18, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Ah, okay. Good catch. -Texink[talk] 03:37, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Actually, he was a teacher and coach - see this. That clears up everything :) BlueAg09 (Talk) 04:05, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bowl history template

What do you say about using a variation of this template to replace this bowl history? I think it looks better, especially since the wins and losses stand out (A&M's might be too red though) BlueAg09 (Talk) 22:36, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

I like that the current one has the matching maroon header, but I have no objections to a change. -Texink[talk] 19:15, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello. I made this change for the following reason: all non-free images must have a separate detailed rationale for each article it is used in. For reference, I suggest reading WP:NFCC and WP:RAT.--Rockfang (talk) 01:45, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
