Terryville High School is a public high school located in Terryville, Connecticut.

[edit] Terryville High School's Mission

The mission of Terryville High School is to educate its students to reach their maximum potential in learning, social growth, and awareness of themselves in an ever-changing society. The school, in partnership with family and the community, promotes career planning, continuous education, vocational preparation, and leadership.

Terryville encourages students to cultivate these basic values: the qualities of self-discipline, self-respect, self-direction, and integrity; the belief in the individuality of each person, the importance of a critical and analytical approach to problem solving; the recognition that learning requires involvement based on mutual respect, obligations and goals; the stimulation of students intellectual curiosity; the encouragement from the past in order to prepare for highly complex and changing world community; and the nurturing of learning as a valuable lifelong process.


[edit] Terryville's Sports

Terryville High School has a wide variety of sports the students can participate in. There is baseball, softball, boys basketball, girls basketball, boys soccer, girls soccer, cross country, tennis, volleyball, track and field, golf, and wrestling. Historic sports moments for Terryville include six state basketball championships. Art Hamm coached the team to back-to-back state championship victories in 1983-1984. The most recent title was won in 1995. In 1991, Phil Lyga coached his soccer team to a co-champion Berkshire League title. Jerry Daniels and his wrestling teams won several Berkshire League titles and coached many state champions like Kevin Higgins, Paul Higgins, Tony Piazza, Tom Yale, Diego Quintero, Ryan Gorack and many more. Including the terryville softball team which came very close to winning the state title in 2008. The gymnasium of Terryville High School is adorned with banners representing many years of athletic achievements.

The Terryville High School Drama Club has a long history of presenting plays, including Bram Stoker's Dracula (2007), Beauty and the Beast: French Fairy Tale Version (2006), Bye Bye Birdie (2004), The Sound of Music (2003), Hello Dolly, Anything Goes, South Pacific, and Mame.

[edit] The New Terryville High School

Work on the new Terryville High School began on January 25, 2006. Less than two years later, it was opened for operation on January 7, 2008. The School Building Committee Members are:
