I reverted (and will continue to revert) the UmbriaTravel.Com link to a form that identifies it as such, and not just as "Terni". It is useful to people to know what site they're going to; it is misleading to identify such a link merely as "Terni" (of course it's Terni, that's what this article is about) since it might suggest to some that it is in some way the site on the town; and what would we have if every Terni site were identified without a tag? "Terni, Terni, Terni" would be silly and confusing. Finally, it's not like there is any shame in being part of UmbriaTravel.Com.... Bill 11:26, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Tacitus

An anonymous recently edited the famous natives section to change the emperor Tacitus to the historian Tacitus. Though the people of Terni like to believe the historian was a native, there is not a shred of evidence for it, and scholarly opinion is almost unanimous in discounting the notion. What is certain is that the emperor was a native, and that the emperor had the works of his older namesake copied, apparently believing he was of the same family (although no one knows for sure); the presumption then established itself, abetted by campanilismo (local boosterism) that the greater figure — the historian — was also a native of Terni.
