[edit] what about individually played team sports?

I think it should be worth mentioning somewhere that many team sports do not involve cocurrent activitys between the two teams, such as Darts. Also, that sports like baseball and cricket involve an entire team versus one or two of the opposition at any one time, while the two teams are not in direct competition with each other the entire game, it is still considered a team sport. One other thing, a mention of team sports where 'team' is very, very loose and the individual is more benefited from winning than his teammates, like a motor racing team. I am planning on rewriting this article to involve these aspects of team games. If no one has any major issues, of course Trjn 03:51, 17 September 2005 (UTC)

Individual sports in high schools and college are competed as a team sport. For instance, in wrestling, the winning competitor will put in a certain number of points for his team in a dual meet. The team will score 6 points if he pins his opponent and 3 points for defeating in a slim margin. In a wrestling tournament involving three or more teams, each competitor will give the team a certain number of points based on the result and the round he is in at the bracket (i.e. prelims, semifinals, championship). Also, in an NCAA National Championship tournaments, there will be team points even if there is only one representative from a school competing. The school with the most participants competing in this tournament would more likely to become the NCAA National Champion. That means that this team will have better odds to earn the most points and more weight classes for representatives to place.
