[edit] Pronounciation
Tamale, located in Ghana, is pronounced "toh-moh-lee." Many people often pronounce it as it looks, ie. the tamale pepper. The pepper pronunciation, however, is incorrect.
- Thanks. Does the last syllable rhyme with 'fee' or with 'spray' (or with something else)? — mark ✎ 23:37, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)
The last syllable rhymes with 'meh'. I lived in Tamale for more than five years. I remember its name being pronounced "TAH-mah-leh" or "TA-ma-le". — Michael 12:00, 13 June 2005 (UTC)
- Akpé ná wò! That makes ['tamalɛ] in IPA. I've added it to the article. — mark ✎ 13:29, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
