[edit] Pronounciation

Tamale, located in Ghana, is pronounced "toh-moh-lee." Many people often pronounce it as it looks, ie. the tamale pepper. The pepper pronunciation, however, is incorrect.

Thanks. Does the last syllable rhyme with 'fee' or with 'spray' (or with something else)? mark 23:37, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)

The last syllable rhymes with 'meh'. I lived in Tamale for more than five years. I remember its name being pronounced "TAH-mah-leh" or "TA-ma-le". — Michael 12:00, 13 June 2005 (UTC)

Akpé ná wò! That makes ['tamalɛ] in IPA. I've added it to the article. — mark 13:29, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
