[edit] Crime Statistics
I removed this sentence: "According to the 2004 census, the crime rate in Tallaght has risen, while the crime rate has, in general, dropped in the rest of Dublin. "
There was no census in 2004. The census does not cover crime. There is a Garda national crime statistics report but it is not detailed enough to give details of crime rates in Tallaght. Curtains99 14:26, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- How long was that there? - The Census was in 2002, which does indicate a lower population growth for tallaght (less than 2%) than the rest of Dublin (6.1%) since 1996 - Which might be added considering it is a reversal (albeit temporary) of the general perception, but it contains nothing, as you have said, about Crime - Well spotted and removed![1] --Irishpunktom\talk 14:41, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] External link to Tallaght directory
An external link has been added to an online directory called tallaght.net. It has been reverted more than once. Should this link be allowed? It seems to violate Wikipedia's External link policies WP:EL
-
- Links to normally avoid
- Links that are added to promote a site. See External link spamming.
- Sites that primarily exist to sell products or services.
- Links to normally avoid
This site seems to exist primarily to sell hosting and advertising, however it may have some value as it lists local businesses. Also, I presume the links are being added by the site owner to promote his site. What do you think? Curtains99 17:22, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- I think it could be useful. Not something to start a revert war over. Djegan 18:45, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Parthenon / Partholon
2 users have changed references from Partholon to Parthenon. Is this a mistake? Curtains99 19:50, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
i believe Partholon is the correct word [2]--193.1.172.163 16:11, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
this is available in the "Village of Tallaght" subheading --Bella vista 16:18, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- What is the village of Tallaght subheading?
- See Partholón and Parthenon. Every time I change Parthenon to Patholon, someone changes it back. Curtains99 16:32, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
i meant to say that the information was available in the "village of tallaght" subheading of the link i added --Bella vista 19:25, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Transport
I would dispute the perception that Tallaght is poorly linked to other suburbs by public transport. It is in fact a hub for radial routes, being linked eastwards to Rathfarnham, Ballinteer, Dundrum, Stillorgan, Foxrock and Dun Laoghaire by the 75, westwards to Clondalkin and Ballyfermot by the 76, and across the Westlink bridge to Blanchardstown by the 76A/B. I'm not a registered user yet, and I won't edit the main page until I have registered, as I'd rather be accountable for my changes. [edit] Evie Hone
is evie hone definitely from tallaght? i swore she was from rathfarnham.--89.100.17.23 13:31, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- Born in Donnybrook [3], lived in Rathfarnham and had her studio there. Buried in Tallaght. Maybe she lived there at some point? Curtains99 14:10, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] "Pit of Tears"?
From all my sources (including another wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebor_Gab%C3%A1la_%C3%89renn#The_contents_of_Lebor_Gab.C3.A1la_.C3.89renn) the name Tallaght comes from "Taimh" meaning "plague" and "Leacht" meaning "slab" or in this context "grave". There is no references mentioned by the editor for the "Pit of tears" translation. It is most likely a fabrication! Morrigan D 11:52, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

I removed it; it seems to be generating redlinks at the top of the article and a bizarre link in the nameplate Partholón. Any attempt to remove these results in the box collapsing (but the red links remain). Could someone please explain exactly what is going on? (Sarah777 23:39, 9 July 2007 (UTC))
- Brave indeed Seo! Wait till the DL Dort folk get started....I mean....TALLAGHT...really!!-:) (Sarah777 10:34, 29 August 2007 (UTC))
[edit] Sean Walsh Memorial Park
Some edit-sparring going on around this park. It was called "Watergate Park" originally, wasn't it? Sarah777 (talk) 09:45, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have absolutely no idea, and quite frankly I don't quite care, but removing all mention of the park, and breaking a load of other formatting fixes and tags, is simply vandalism. --Schcamboaon scéal? 11:06, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
