Sysmä is a municipality of Finland situated in Southern Finland and is part of the Päijänne Tavastia region. The municipality has a population of 4,716 (2003) and covers an area of 936.57 km² of which 270.37 km² is water. The population density is 7.1 inhabitants per km².

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
