An important person in Swift Current's history is Jeremy Osborn. (Methodist Sunday School superintendent, and co-owner of Argue & Cooper's store, which became WW Cooper's, and then was bought out by Pioneer Co-op.) He was the Swift Current equivalent of Robin Hood. At a point where the town was out of coal, and the government refused to give or sell them any, Argue stole a train car filled with coal from the CPR, and sold the coal to the locals at a very low price. He prevented them from dying of cold.

[edit] Famous Persons Abuse

First of all, I'm new here. I'm from Swift Current, so I hope I can be useful on this particular article. I could be wrong, but I don't think Tomas Shatner and the three below him are either famous or notable, and I think they should be removed. Looking back in the history, I have noticed this section has been a target of vandalism. -- Zorando 18:15, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

The page was reading like an essay. Wikipedia standards insist that there be a brief one or two sentence long introduction to the content. This was missing completely from the page. There is also a lack of links within the history portion of this page. For more information on wiki layouts please read Wikipedia:Guide_to_layout User:Nels Nielson 02:55, 21 September 2006 (UTC) I withdraw what I said about the links. Glancing the history section over a second time it does feel well supported by them. 03:01, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
