[edit] Medals table

At the end of the competition, the medals table contained a record for Tunesia, and the medal standing of Australia, Italy, Poland and Russia, as well as the table medal order were different. A retroactive competition ban on Oussama Mellouli of Tunesia announced on 11 September 2007 resulted in vacating his two medals.

[edit] Medal summary

Oussama Mellouli of Tunesia originally won the men's 800 m freestyle and finished second in the men's 400 m freestyle.

On 11 September 2007, the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland disqualified Mellouli and banned him for 18 months (effective retroactively to 30 October 2006) after he tested positive for amphetamines.
