[edit] Comment
"Some gamers oppose the enhanced remake idea. There are also some gamers who formerly opposed the idea, but have begun to support it."
Do we really need statements like this? That sounds pretty obvious. Perhaps we should add "there are also some gamers who formerly supported the idea, but have begun to oppose it".
- Yup, lame and obvious. Clean it up please! Stan 15:49, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)
This page also fails to mention the obvious diffrent versions of the game. For example, the US & Europe versions and the combo carts that included Super Mario World
- I think that it mentions the combo carts... what's significant about US & Europe versions? Andre (talk) 23:17, Oct 25, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Screenshots
Anyone fancy taking new screenshots for the two versions of SMB3 so they show the same scene? Rufous 16:46, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
- I took a screenshot of the original SMB3 where the existing screenshot of the remade one takes place. However, this page now has layout issues. On my browser the screenshots are overlapping with some of the text and I can't get it to stop without having a huge gap in the text. Any ideas on how to fix this issue? --TheDotGamer Talk 03:07, May 3, 2005 (UTC)

- I have reflown the images so that they come in logical order, with the original game first, and the update second. They look good now. However, some of the images were (necessarily) taken using an emulator, and it looks like they had one of the emulator's special drawing modes enabled, like SuperEagle or similar. This smooths the edges of sprites, so the game looks considerably different to how it was originally. I would prefer if the images show the game in its true state. Rufous 21:41, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
Will someone please submit the SMB2 original shot without a graphics-smoothing emulator engine in place? This isn't true to the console.Alvis 07:16, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Gameboy versions
I have played Super Mario All-Stars on the Gameboy Advance. But when I went out to buy it, I can't even find any record of it existing. What is going on? Am I missing something, is it under a different name? If the game exists (which is does) it should be included here under plateforms - Rowan 12:09, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- The Super Mario All-Stars versions of Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3 are available as Super Mario Advance and Super Mario Advance 4 respectively. The SMAS version of SMB or SMBTLL were never released on Game Boy Advance, and the version of Super Mario World on GBA has Luigi sprites that are not the same as the ones found in SMAS+SMW. - NES Boy 18:16, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Erratum
- The princess' name is "Princess Toadstool", although the manual of the North American and PAL European versions erroneously list her to being just called "The Princess". In North America and Europe, she wasn't usually known as "Princess Peach" until Super Mario 64. The name that she was listed as in the manual in the North American and PAL European versions was corrected to naming her "Princess Toadstool" in the Player's Guide. --ZachKudrna18@yahoo.com
[edit] What does this mean?
SMB: Super Mario All-stars/Collection version
...Collisions with the pipe-plants include the top eight pixels (in the original, all enemies except Bowser collided as 16x16, even if they looked larger)...
What does all this mean? 131.202.140.124 18:34, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- It means that in the collection version of the game Mario does get hurt when hitting the top part of a Piranha Plant, whereas in the original version Mario doesn't get hurt.--TBC☆O M G! 03:51, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
-
- Cool, I tried that! I guess the programmers never thought that a player would jump directly on top of a piranha plant! 156.34.216.145 16:55, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Do we really need a Super Mario World section
..in this article? I understand that there seems to be reference to the Super Mario All-Stars/SMW pack, but the article seems to be specifically about Super Mario All-Stars. In addition to this, the section just below that refers to reception, apart from being uncited, causes reader confusion as it looks as if it might be referring to Super Mario World. It is my opinion that the SMW section in the page be deleted. How do you all feel about this?EnglishEfternamntalkcontribs 22:06, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- It should be left as is, at least for now. There's no separate article for Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World. Should that change, then yes, it should be removed and placed in the new article. Right now, since they're combined and since there's a section for every other game in the collection, so I don't see why World should be excluded. And the reception section could just as easily cause confusion about Mario 3 if you removed World. My two cents. -Jacquismo 23:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
-
- That sounds reasonable, but I still think adding SMW is different for the reason that it is not directly including in the SM All Stars game. But I see your point. I would like to make an article regarding SM All-Stars + SMW, but I'm not so sure that wouldn't be a waste of space.EnglishEfternamntalkcontribs 18:32, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] saving
is there no way to delete a save game? i see that you can change zones by pressing left and right. what if you want to restart without items etc.. i just found out to delete it you press a. think we could put a part about the level select screen and saving/switching controls? it's kind of in-depth but shouldn't take up too much room. 69.118.89.29 20:36, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Page Error
Part of the text in the first paragraph is blocked by an image. This one: "Unlike the original game, the (player now gets this time) bonus after finishing each World's big castle (World x-4) as well." The bit in brackets is blocked. 58.178.172.197 10:50, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Brick Resistance
I'm surprised this isn't on here - in the original, when you break a brick, you encounter immediate resistance and bounce off, the same as if you hit a solid block. In the remakes, when you break bricks they give a little and you pass partially through where they were. This as far as I know is the only difference that can dramatically alter the gameplay (especially if you have certain parts memorized and are counting on the same physics as the original game - I found that out the hard way a couple times!)Rglong 01:12, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Super mario world screen shots
The screen shots for super mario world at the bottom of the page are identical, not correctly one from the older game, one from the remake. No idea how to fix. Samadam 19:28, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'm afraid you might want to get your glasses checked, mate. These are different and have been since before you made that post. (I checked the history.) Look a little closer at that green guy :P

[edit] Voucher/Coupon
Does anyone remember getting this game as a free offer? I don't know if it was when I bought my SNES but I remember having a voucher to mail in and I got Super Mario All-Stars for free. Maybe it was the pack-in version and there was a shortage of carts at shipping time? Not sure. Was just curious if anyone else remembers the voucher. This is in the United States btw. Thanks. 66.157.82.22 (talk) 03:49, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- I do because that's how I got my copy, I think it might have been either due to that version of the game not be released yet and so they put a voucher in the box. I doubt it was a shortage issue as Nintendo was fighting it out with Sega at the time and probably just considered slapping that sticker on as an attraction to get more people to buy and they hadn't released it yet. It probably was also intended to be the pack in game to replace the single SMW cart where then it'd be included with the others, maybe they did it so people wouldn't get PO'd when I few months down the line the new SKU would come out with All-Stars cart. But I dunno it's been way too long and I never asked from all the times I pestered the hell out of Nintendo. I think there was a sticker on the box mentioning the ability to receive a free copy of the game so I could have been just for older boxes that were on store shelves while new ones would come with it when the stocks were cleared.PHOENIXZERO (talk) 13:01, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
