[edit] Home Telephone Company → General Dynamics?

What I have read is utterly ambiguous about what happened to the relationship of SC to Home Telephone Company after the relocation to Rochester. General Dynamics is said to have purchased SC (or to have merged with SC), without mention of a parent company of SC. —Gamahucheur 11:50, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

When I was working for Stromberg Carlson in Lake Mary they were known as GPT Stromberg-Carlson (GPT standing for Gec Plessey Telecom). I'm not sure of when that purchase had taken place....I sure wish I could remember the details. I had left the company about a year after Siemens had purchased SC and had totally renovated the manufacturing building for the DCO. We had just started working with the EWSD (which was to replace the DCO), a CO that could handle the larger metro areas, but less features and less stable then the DCO. I just remembered....the old timers there told me that General Dynamics purchased Stromberg Carlson, then sold off the PBX division to Comdial, and the CO manufacturing to GPT(made a lot of $$$ by splitting it up). Prior to this both the PBX and CO were manufactured in Lake Mary. Afterwards, only the CO (and related equipment) were still being made in the FL facility. When Siemens bought the place they really cleaned things up, got it to be running much more efficient. It was a night and day change, pretty much all for the good (except for wages).Mrhyak 07:09, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Any relation to today's Stromberg Carlson company that makes accessories for campers and trailers? Possibly an unrelated company, or a company that somehow acquired the brand name? Just curious.

Not related except for founding members had same last names as phone company.Mrhyak 07:16, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
