Striborg is an Australian ambient black metal one-man band formed by Sin Nanna in 1994. Initially, Sin Nanna (a pseudonym, his real name is Russell Menzies) recorded under the name Kathaaria (1994-1997) and has also released albums under the name Veil of Darkness (1997-2004). Compilations of demos (of Striborg as well as Kathaaria) were released since 2003 (under the band's new name), while the first full-length Striborg album appeared in 2004. Lyrics reveal a fascination with forests, darkness, night, misanthropy and death. Striborg's influences are cited as Von, and ambient black metal bands Xasthur, Leviathan and Draugar.[citation needed] ('Striborg' is the name of a Slavonic wind god, while 'Sin-Nanna' is the name of a Mesopotamian moon god, for which see: Nanna.)
