Steve Briston is a fictional character on the Egyptian soap opera Commonwealth Hall portrayed by English actor Matthew Thomas.
[edit] Storylines
When he first entered the show, Steve claimed that he was an exchange student from London, although it was later revealed he was a small arms dealer and gun enthusiast and had amassed a small fortune. This lead to him receiving the nickname 'Gun-Boy Briston'.
Whilst still in the guise of a student, he fell in love with Serenia Yip, often leaving expensive presents at her door and serenading her with Marvin Gaye songs. The two became close, but when Steve revealed his secret to Serenia she spurned him, leaving him feeling bitter and jealous.
However, it was later revealed that Serenia herself had Mafia connections. Outraged at the perceived hypocrisy, he vowed to take revenge. During this time, Steve befriended fellow neighbour Naveed Tariq and told him of everything Serenia had done, including how she had managed to draw fellow housemate Yasir Himmat into the world of organised crime. After he failed to blackmail Nicos into doing the hit, Steve convinced Naveed that removing Serenia was the lesser evil when compared to the greater evil of letting her do more harm to the world. Steve armed Naveed and arranged for him to kill her in a drive-by shooting. Serenia was heavily injured in the attack but survived
Steve felt great remorse after this event and decided to change his ways - donating all his money to charity and converting to Catholicism.
