I grew up in Statesville (and my parents still reside there). I'm not familiar with either of the nicknames listed under "trivia", so I have some doubts as to how widespread they may be. Gunnk 20:49, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] History

I added the information about the role of Statesville as NC capital during the Civil War. The Zebulon Vance House is now run as a museum by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. A national historic marker exists outside the house that also records these facts, and a good number of sites also document the events. I wanted to link to the National Register of Historic Places, but their database is currently down.Gunnk 20:49, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
