Stan Daugherty was born to Dick and Anita Daugherty in Alexandria, IN on April 13, 1954. He attended Alexandria-Monroe High School and participated at the varsity in level in three sports: Football (running back), Baseball (second baseman) and Basketball (shooting guard). He was an all-conference performer in all three sports, he would win the Tiger Blanket for the basketball season, a feat his older son would later match, becoming the first father-son tandem to do so. He would graduate from AMHS in 1972.

Upon graduation from Alexandria-Monroe High School he enrolled at Taylor University in Upland, IN where he would major in Physical Education. During his time in Upland he was a member of both the Men's Basketball and Baseball teams. Following his sophomore year, he married his high school sweetheart Brenda Zarse. He would graduate from Taylor in 1976, and then earn a Master's Degree of Physical Education from Ball State University in 1981.

[edit] Coaching Career

Stan Daugherty has been a coach at five high schools in the state of Indiana amassing a record of 225-102. He won sectional and county titles during his time at Delta High School where he coached Matt Painter, the current Head Coach at Purdue University. Following his run as a High School Coach he left for Anderson University where he would serve as Associate Head Coach from 1993-2001, he would coach his son Travis from 1997-2001. In May 2001 he would accept the Head Men's Basketball position at Goshen College. There he would collect 87 wins, and the honor of being the program's all-time winningest coach. Following the 2004-2005 season, and back-to-back 20-win seasons, Daugherty was named Mid-Central Conference Coach of the Year. During his stint at Goshen, he would coach the only NAIA All-American in school history, Eric Walsh, as well as 2006-07 MCC Newcomer of the Year Errick McCollum, the first in program history.

In May 2007 Stan Daugherty made the decision to step down as Men's Basketball Coach at Goshen College and accept the position of Athletic Director at Delta High School in Muncie, IN.
