The St. Johns River Light is a lighthouse located near the mouth of the St. Johns River on the property of Naval Station Mayport. It is red with a white cupola. First lit in 1859, the tower was heightened by 15 ft in 1887 and replaced by a lightship in 1929. The lightship was replaced by a modern tower, located 2 miles southeast of this tower in 1954. Entrance to the tower is through a window since the tower has been buried by 10 to 20 feet of fill since the 1940s.
