Sport1 is a Dutch premium television service owned by Chellomedia, the European content division of Liberty Global. Sport1 launched together with its sister service Film1 on February 1, 2006 and replaced the Canal+ Netherlands channels. The service offers eight sport channels, the number of channels is necessary to live broadcast games of the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League at the same time. Two of these channels are as of October 2007 used by Tele2 to live broadcast Eredivisie football games. The main channel is Simulcasted in HD.
The channels are available on digital cable of most Dutch cable companies. Satellite provider CanalDigitaal only provides the main channel. DVB-T provider Digitenne only provides the Tele2 channels.
