A special administrative region, or SAR may be:
- People's Republic of China
- Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, present-day administrative divisions set up by the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong (since 1997) and Macau (since 1999)
- Republic of China
- Special administrative region (Republic of China), also translated as "special administrative districts", historic administrative divisions set up by the Republic of China when it administered mainland China
- North Korea
- Administrative divisions of North Korea#Special Administrative Regions: Sinŭiju Special Administrative Region (established 2002, present status unclear)
- Indonesia
- Aceh, Special Region of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (Special Administrative Region of Aceh)
