Soverato is a town and comune in the province of Catanzaro in the Calabria region of southern Italy.

[edit] Geography

Soverato sits on the Italian Ionian sea in the Gulf of Squillace. Nearby there is a string of villages along the white beaches of the gulf like Montepaone and the beautiful Isca Marina.

The Giardino Botanico Santicelli botanic gardens were built on a former waste site in 1980. The town is bordered by Montepaone, Petrizzi and Satriano.

[edit] Economy

Soverato is highly reliant on seasonal tourism both from American Italians visiting family in the region and from Northern Italians.[citation needed] In the summer every year there is a night fair situated on its main piazza adjacent to the beach.[citation needed] There is an active nightlife in Soverato, including many clubs, bars and restaurants.[citation needed] Soverato can be reached via the Lamezia Terme Airport within a 35 to 40 minute drive and receives direct flights from many European cities.[citation needed]
