Lapham Feed and Grain, Inc. was started in 1956 by Richard and Eula Lapham who moved to South Raub from Decatur Illinois. Lapham Feed and Grain was sometimes called the South Raub Elevator by many of the farmers. On November 24, 1959, there was a 20-car train wreck (hoppers were loaded with coal) which demolished the west side of the elevator. Fortunately there were no injuries with this wreck and the elevator was rebuilt. Richard and Eula Lapham sold the South Raub business in 1966 and moved with their daughter, Diana, to Camden Michigan.
