Hes still at Pompey. Not PSV!

Someone needs to remove him from the recent deaths list for 27/11/06. As far as I know he isnt dead and im sure that if he had died it would have been widely reported.

i think this:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/4676360.stm

needs to be raised. (Unsigned comment by: User:81.101.238.124)

[edit] Rumours

What about the rumours of him being homosexual? And also his brother being in jail because of assaulting someone who called Sol gay? Should they be mentioned?

Wiki is not a rumour mill, gossip shop or idle place for tittle-tattle... No need to put it here. doktorb | words 12:26, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

I see your point. But I'm just wondering whether someone's sexuality may be important if a wiki article is meant to feature as their biography? For instance, Simon Hughes (Lib Dem MP) suffered from rumours throughout his career, and was recently outed. His campaign for a seat during the 1983 election was also noted for its homophobia towards Labour candidate Peter Tatchell. Therefore one could make a case for including details about his sexuality in his wiki article. What does everyone else think? Should questions about Sol's sexuality be duly noted? (Unsigned comment by: User:81.158.53.145)

Questions about Sol's sexuality should not be noted.
Only factual information should appear on Wikipedia.
If a prominent footballer does admit being a homosexual, then it is a bold act, and a milestone which should be noted. This, to my knowledge, has not happened since Justin Fashanu did such in 1990. There is a rather sparsely populated category Gay athletes which would suggest how big a milestone it would be. /// Slumgum 20:35, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

(Note: the Gay athletes category did exist when I wrote the above comment --Slumgum | yap | stalk | 19:47, 18 March 2006 (UTC))

According to that reliable source The Sun the only fashion queen involved in this situation is a heterosexual woman called Karen Millen. "Sol’s head is messed up by what’s happening in his personal life. He’s emotionally involved with three women and is struggling to cope." [1]--Maarten1963

He apparently dated Martina Hingis so so much for the gay rumors.

You never heard of a 'lavender marriage'?

Rumours should not be included in Wikipedia articles unless substantiated, per WP:BLP. The point regarding his brother however is in fact true as I recall, and was reported by various media outlets at the time (e.g. the BBC). I'll try and dig these out. Badgerpatrol 16:00, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Birthplace

Until some one can work his birth place in to the main article cleanly (as required by the style manual), I'm removing his birth place. He was born in Newham, London. Putting his birth place in Early career does not seem clean to me at all. Trevor1 04:00, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

Every other living person's biography I've seen on this site includes the birthplace in the first sentence. The Manual of Style only mentions dead people. I would have left it alone, Trevor. If I had broken it, I would have also fixed it.

[edit] Arsenal Record

From Arsenal web site

Arsenal Statistics: Apps Goals League 133+2 8 F.A. Cup 19 2 Champions League 39 1 League Cup 2 Community Shield 2 TOTAL 195+2 11

Is policy only to state League games if so that should be stated. --Vivbaker 20:15, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

Opps so it does --Vivbaker 20:19, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] pompey

Rumor has it he's going to Portsmouth, taking his medical recently as well. Don't change anything until it has been confirmed by Pompey or Arsenal. Squadoosh 21:38, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] First england goal

It says that sol has scored 1 goal for england. What goal was that? I know of two goals that were wrongfully disallowed, but what is the goal which was allowed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Richard LVP Real (talkcontribs) 18:38, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

He scored against Sweden in one of the group games in the 2002 World Cup, just checked and it is in the article ... :) Neil  18:06, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
I've put the information about the goal into a table. I know its only one goal, but hey, it looks nice. User:Oliwestham (Talk!) 16:35, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Height

I'm no expert, but it seems to me that his height isn't reported correctly in the article! 86.17.244.224 (talk) 20:24, 25 January 2008 (UTC) ɧ
